any ideas? - dara2| 2 repliesI just received this number myself on my cell, and i am in Canada as well. Thought I would check and see if anyone else had the same thing. I did not answer though and no message was left.
- JSHARM replies to dara2I got a call from this number also and when I called it back it just rang and rang. I get random calls from numbers I don't know and they end up being Hilltop Research, anyone heard of them?
- dara2 replies to dara2Update: I have now received a call three times from this number....and the last one came in this evening.
- LD| 2 replies"Free Vacation" that costs at least $299. They want a credit card number.
- Nancy replies to LD| 1 replyI recieved a call from that number today saying I won a trip that I Entered at the wonderful wedding show. A trip for two for Florida/Bahamas. I was busy at the moment and couldn't take down information so I asked them to call me back at 1:30pm. They havent called back yet. Assuming its a scam..... Neone else hear of this?
- CNI got a phone call from this number, saying i had won a free trip to florida/bahamas. They told me i had filled out contest at the local bike show which i did go to, and i did fill a contest sheet, but it was for a trip or 10,000 cash. lol she asked for my credit card # to book me a flight but i dont have one, and on the sheet i filled out in small print in clearly stated that it was contest which if won would not cost the contestant anything, anyway i told her uhmm no i wont be going but i will take the 10,000 dollars which was also up for grabs for the contest i filled out and she got a little flustered. she told me i must have filled out more than one of the contest that was there, funny thing there were no other contest like that there just one. which i informed her, and she got mad so i hung up. so BEWARE and dont get suckered in, they're getting tricky and actually researching to find where there are contest taking place at certain evenets so that they can sound legit
- j.raechelleI got a call from this number as well saying i won a trip. Dont get suckered in they want a credit card number right away and if you dont give them one they hang up on you. i called back to get the name of the agency and they didnt answered the phone "hello" with no company name. when i asked for the name she got very defensive nd told me.. i wrote down the name and asked her to repeat it... she changed the name slightly..... NO THANK YOU they said their name was imperial services and travel. then she changes it to imperial travel services... i googles imperial scams and it came up with imperial majestic cruises (the exact same trip they offered) just a different name
- Peter| 1 replysame here..didnt answer...called once so far..i live on the other side of the continent, i dont answer long distance calls on myh cell anyway. also getting area code 347 scams.
- Peter replies to PeterYeah, I got this too.
They said I won a free trip. I put my name and number in a 'win a vacation' box at a Wine Expo at the Jacob Javits Center in NYC.
They called me from three different numbers before I answered:
718-228-0175 - (718)228-0175
718-228-1155 - (718)228-1155
718-228-1763 - (718)228-1763
**I just wrote the numbers above in 2 different formats so people searching the internet have an easier time finding it through a search.
They went through this whole speech...about 10 minutes, before saying, all we need is your $299 to reserve this. I said "I thought I won!"...they wanted my credit card number then. f that. - iggynelix| 8 repliesyup .. same as Peter .. but it was the A/C NJ Beer Fest where i signed up.
they've been calling my cell. ask them to send you the specifics to the address on file... when they say they can't w/o a Credit Card .. that's bad news.- Call type: Telemarketer
- iggynelix replies to iggynelix| 7 repliesThey said they have a website RTAvacations.com and numbers they gave me were: 1-800-231-1298
1-800-238-2549
1-800-206-5703
8-day Vacation to Florida and Naussau Bahamas with a "Discovery" cruise all for $249.
Plus tix to Universal/Disney/etc. also a visit with "vacation ownership" - iggynelix replies to iggynelix| 6 repliesMore details .. They've been calling my cell from a series of different numbers.
I made the mistake of putting my cell number on one of those "win a vacation" drawing cards at the Atlantic City, NJ Beer Fest.
8-day Vacation to Florida and Naussau Bahamas with a "Discovery" cruise.
Plus (special just for me) tix to Universal/Disney/etc. a visit with "vacation ownership". All for $249/person with credit card reservation now.
I asked them to send the specifics via mail to the address on file. She said she could not, this was the only call and must have the reservation via Credit Card now or it's not valid.
When pressed for something where i could verify them, they said they have a website RTAvacations.com with phone numbers:
1-800-231-1298 - nothing on google
1-800-238-2549 - collection agent, award center scam,
When pressed for a "confirmation" or "reservation" number i could use if i called back she told me that i wouldnt have one. I asked, "So how will they know which package is 'special just for me'? " She told me she'd need to speak with a supervisor, and then said all the packages were the same and not to call any of the original numbers she gave but this one instead: 1-800-206-5703 (actually is RTA vacations)
Note: rtavacations.com is a real website... but has no packages for Bahamas. and the prices are far different. Also myrtavacations.com/package-details.html has similar details.. but enough differences (meals not covered, prices, etc.) that it might not be legit. - drewco| 2 repliesI got offered the same kinda vacation as iggynelix from an Outdoor Adventure Show draw was for either a $10,000 prize or "dream vacation" in Calgary, but they went under the website www.floridabahamascruisevacations.com. And also the website claims to have received an award from Porthole Magazine, even though the actual magazine's website has no award with the title claimed by the vacation website. Smells a little like scam if you ask me.
- Nik| 1 replyI had the same thing happen except mine was from 6462376576
I talked to the lady and because i went to a car show in my province, she said that its not a scam because the province has regulations and they check for scammers and not everyone can come in there and do that....
but it definatly sounded weird when she told me i had to pay to "secure" my spot and i had to pay my way down to florida.
My friend said she won a trip like that and it was something for the time shares and if you don't take the time share then you don't get the cruise.
I also got offered a rent a car for free with unlimited kilometers- Caller: florida bahamas cruise vacations
- Will replies to drewco| 1 replyTheir site has no contact info on it. Pretty Lame, I was at the BC International Autoshow. Same deal.. MY GF got the same call too. Pretty lame.. lol We both won our own individual trips! Amazing! The chances are that good? :P
- Will replies to NikI think we went to the same show, cuz I have the same number on my call display.
- SeanI had the same thing happen to me today - 3 calls:
1(718)-530-9126
1(718)-228-0785
1(718)-228-1763
The last one I answered, and it was a lady stating I won the same cruise as the ones described above (I also thought it was odd that I would have to pay upfront to "reserve" my spot and fly myself to Florida) - when she got to the end of her speach and said I had to pay now with my Visa I told her to call me back later...she had some pretty bogus "verification" methods as well to assure me she was legit! It threw me at first because I had attended the Vancouver Auto Show last week and filled out a form to win a trip...
By the way - the site she gave me to check out is www.floridabahamascruisevacations.com - didn't see that one above...likely a new one.
