i got several phone calls from this number, no messages were left. Finally when they called again, i answered the phone. They said that i won a travel package. I was at a trade show and signed up to win this travel package. Problem is that when I tried to confirm this with the company that they said they were, "ImperialMajesty Cruise Lines" Imperial would not give me any information about if i had actually won or if it was fraud
Won a 8 day vaca to Fl & Bahammas. The deal sounded pretty good. Trip for 2. All meals included: 2 days in Orlando-2 days passes at Universal Studios, then a 3 day cruise to Naussau, then 2 days in Ft. Lauderdale. All begins in Orlando. You get a 2 for 1 air discount. You have 1.5 years to decide when you are going. 60 days notice before you go.
Catches: 1. You won a discount. You still have to pay $300/person....ahh not bad...keep talking to me. 2. You have to PAY WHEN THEY CALL or you loose out!! Sorry, not this guy.
Now after some research they are indeed for real and it seems to be a good deal. I think. They are a "starter" crusie line and the 3 day cruise costs ~200-250/pp. So your basically paying for that and everything else is "The big win". You decide.
Ya I got the same phone call from them like 9 times before I actually picked up and the same deal was offered to me after they told me that I won a Vacation to the Bahamas. I would not trust these guys if my life depended on it. After I told them that I don't have a major credit card to pay the $300 or so up front the conversation was kept short and there went my supposed vacation that I won... I would recommend staying way clear of scams like this especially when they ask you to pay up front. I can get this same deal if not better online or from my travel agent. TOTAL SCAM I THINK.
I got the same call, except i gave them my credit card info, but it declined. So he gave me a number to call back the next day with a credit card that will actually work. Im very tempted to do it. Do you really think it is a scam?
I received a phone call from this phone number and received similiar details to what DT, Rob and Whitney had received. The number called twice before I answered the call.
I signed up at a trade show for a travel package - similiar story as above. The representative gave me the spiel and they needed my credit card in order to complete the transaction. I said that I didn't like giving my credit card over the phone. They argued that I was the one who initiated the call so I should feel secure in giving my credit card number. As far as I was concerned, I did not initiate the call, since they had called me repeatedly. I asked how I initiated the call, and they said that I had done it at the trade show, when I gave them my number - this made no sense. Also, at the trade show, I was signing up to win a vacation, not get a discount for the vacation - very suspicious. I'm sure that everybody who was at the trade show received a similiar phone call.
If it's too good to be true, it probably is... don't fall for it.
I got this same phone call today. Filled out a form at a bar when I was out on Saturday. Same spiel as above. I was apprehensive and said that I couldn't afford to pay for the $299 per person until I got paid next week and then I could only afford one of them. They agreed to call me on Monday to complete the transaction and would allow me to only pay for one. This made me nervous. After looking up the cruise line, it is legit like one of the above postings said, but then again it's just not really worth the risk.
I too signed up to win a FREE vacation, not a discounted one.
Same as all the above. Signed up for a FREE TRIP TO THE BAHAMAS, and they ended up asking me to pay $299/PER PERSON BEFORE I GOT OFF THE PHONE to reserve my trip. All the details are the same as above, but I will add that
I asked the guy WHY I HAD TO PAY FOR A FREE VACATION, and he said that there was a LUXURY TAX, so I gave the phone to my father, a TAX ACCOUNTANT FOR 37 YEARS, and he pretty much said to the guy THERE'S NO SUCH THING, and then the guy started yelling and arguing with my dad. I looked up the area code, and it's from brooklyn and queens in New York. After the discount and airfare, and everything else you have to pay for, it's the same as taking a shitty vacation, not worth the 3 DAYS you'll be at see. If you want to cruise to the bahamas, I recommend contacting a cruise line yourselves.
Point: FREE VACATION is just bu***hit, it's not free.
Pretty much similar... just today I received a call from it claiming I had won a draw in the "Taboo : Naughty but Nice Sex Show" I recently attended. It claims to feature a fancy cruise from a company named Imperial Majesty (company's legitimate, just dunno if the call is as well). She claims her name is Sandra Edwards, and gave a toll free number if I want further info. [1-800-203-9783], but apparently it WILL ONLY WORK AFTER I GAVE THE CREDIT CARD INFO AND PAY ABOUT $299/PERSON
lesson to be learned
Caller ID: +17182280774 Caller: Imperial Majesty (claims to be from)
Same thing as above. I entered my name for a free trip for two to Las Vegas at an auto show (the only draw I entered), but I got a call from this number saying I won a trip for two to Orlando/Mexico/Ft. Lauderdale, for $299/person, same 2 for 1 airfare, etc. I said no when they asked me to confirm with a credid card, and said I was safe because I initiated the call. The lady at the auto show said "one entry per phone number, but if you have two phone numbers, feel free to enter twice", so I did, and got a call on each number with the same speech within 10 minutes of each other. Two buddies attending the show got the same call for the Bahamas cruise. Haha, nice try guys.
I received a call on Tuesday March 25 at 2:21pm (MST)
I was at an Auto Show, and apparently I signed up for it. I was curious to know more about this "trip", so I found out: - 8 day cruise to Florida/Bahamas - Value $2500 -Accomadations -Hotel package at Ramada, Hilton, etc. -$299 per person for the deposit??
They're gonna call me again tomorrow, but what sucks is that they have my information (address, city, postal code)
I got a call today, and answered it. To me, it sounds like a big scheme, and it also sounds like a time share. I filled out a trip form at a cowboy show and it was for a trip to Las Vagas. She had all my info so I know it was right, but then she asked for my credit card number...I dont want to pay for something before I have it! I work for American Express and see this kind of stuff all the time.
same story here.....but i paid :( don't ask why it sounded legit to me but im young and don't know better even if i usually refuse these kinda catches. After the call i thought about it and called my bank they told me that these trip things always happen and to just wait for the "box" to come in and fill out the cancellation form, but that my moneys is gone. The hole time i thought about it, but the girl...she sounded so convincing, she played my head like a fiddle. Well i suggest not to take it even if actually get a trip. The thing i don't understand is why the f**** is the gouverment and the people in charge of these shows allow these kind of american bullsh*t scams, money?.
Did you ever get anything back in the mail? I was so tempted to do it, I hung up on them so I could talk to my bf. I even tried calling them back. Im glad I didn't do it!
I remember when I entered the drawing at a beer festival I asked the guy what the draw was promoting and he never was able to give me a clear answer. That should have tipped me off then, but I wasn't really thinking that much and my roommate had already filled out an entry so I did one too. They called both of us about 2 weeks ago I didn't answer because I didn't recognize the number, googled it and found all this stuff and was glad I didn't bother. They called me again today and I happened to answer, thankfully I had been smart enough to only put initials on the form so they start asking to speak to s blah blah, based from what I read here I just cut her off there and said we aren't interested thank you and hung up. I think thats what everyone else should do too.
