- James Smithwhat is this number for
- susan isaacsonrobo call
- Caller: IRS
- K| 2 repliesRobo-call starts before answering machine is done speaking, so I only have the tail end of the message. I got two of these from completely different numbers saying that I should call them back before some matter "goes to the local courts". A scam asking for money.
- SThey've called me twice this morning, Robo call saying I have a lawsuit against me and need to call before they send it to the local court house
- S replies to K| 1 replyI received the same call, twice already today. So it's a scam? Has me a bit freaked out
- Dot| 1 reply2 calls received this morning. Telling me to call or they will report it to the local court house. Is this a scam?
- HllComputer voice...2 calls today...mentions IRS and "call before being sent to county courthouse"
- Jan replies to SThe IRS doesn't use automated calls or email. I believe they merely send information through the U.S. Mail.
We have caller ID and the screen noted "not available" so they were blocking. - Jan replies to DotI believe this is a scam. The IRS generally doesn't call you, especially in the form of robo calls.
Also, this matter wouldn't go before a "county" courthouse. The IRS is a branch of the "federal government."
Has anyone returned the call? These people are probably hackers and will ask for personal information. - same here...Received same message left on our answering machine. I'm in Illinois.
- Mr ARobo call claiming to be some officer with IRS! Better call before they take you to county court! Duh...IRS is a federal office..they dont need no county court! Unless Im mistaken??

- JeanI got a call today also from same 718 303-2594 from an Alex Brown. Stating the I owe money for tax evasion. my heart was pounding!!!! I spoke with a person and it sounded so legitimate and they wanted my lawyer to call them. Said the IRS came to my house three times to hand deliver me a notice and I was not there. I freaked out and started to yell at the guy who said they left notes. And I did not get a not, so I was angry and telling him about the horrible audit I had in 2007 and in the middle of my rant he hung up on me!!! I got a scammer to hang up on me...that is great! I then typed the number in google and found your complaints about it.
I called the police and they said it was a scam and here is test from the IRS website:
IRS-Impersonation Telephone Scam
An aggressive and sophisticated phone scam targeting taxpayers, including recent immigrants, has been making the rounds throughout the country. Callers claim to be employees of the IRS, but are not. These con artists can sound convincing when they call. They use fake names and bogus IRS identification badge numbers. They may know a lot about their targets, and they usually alter the caller ID to make it look like the IRS is calling.
Victims are told they owe money to the IRS and it must be paid promptly through a pre-loaded debit card or wire transfer. If the victim refuses to cooperate, they are then threatened with arrest, deportation or suspension of a business or driver’s license. In many cases, the caller becomes hostile and insulting.
Or, victims may be told they have a refund due to try to trick them into sharing private information.
If the phone isn't answered, the scammers often leave an “urgent” callback request.
Note that the IRS will never: 1) call to demand immediate payment, nor will the agency call about taxes owed without first having mailed you a bill; 2) demand that you pay taxes without giving you the opportunity to question or appeal the amount they say you owe; 3) require you to use a specific payment method for your taxes, such as a prepaid debit card; 4) ask for credit or debit card numbers over the phone; or 5) threaten to bring in local police or other law-enforcement groups to have you arrested for not paying.
