This is a collection agency. Their return number 866-269-2279. They call themselves Edgewater but the woman made a slip up when leaving a message and started to say Law Offices of...and then caught herself and changed the name.

I am sick of being called for the wrong person's id.

Recv'd a call from a John at Edgewater Financial Services claiming that I was put as a personal reference for a friend of mine. Claims the # he has on file is no longer valid. Gave a call back # of 866-269-2279 and provided a ref# as well.

I'm wondering if this is a scam, collection agency, or what?

I keep getting calls from this number and they ask for someone else.  I tell them that they have the wrong number then they just hang up on me but keep calling back.  I have had the same cell number for many years...

Edgewater keeps calling and harrassing my 82 year old father. Various people call and ask for the last four of his ss#, dob, etc. When he refuses they say they already have the info and just want to verify. He tells them to stop calling but they won't.  My Dad has never been in debt in his life but lived within his means. Never been rich but never owed money.  Very disturbing.

Keep getting harrassing calls. Told the lady to stop calling.  She calls everyday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got a message from this company claiming to be calling for a Department of Education loan in excess of $150,000. All my students have been paid in full since 2003 and were no where near that much. They used and oddly specific amount to make it sound more realistic.

This is also the same group that sent my wife a "you've won $170,000 send us the taxes and we'll send you the money" scam.

Probably got our information from the data breaches the State of Texas seems to have weekly.

This is b******t.  They are constantly calling requesting for someone else.  Somehow, my number was associated with this person who I don't even know.  

I have excellent credit.  I was worried that someone had stolen my personal information and was impersonating me.  I had to check with the Credit Bureau to verify my information.

They will badger you until you go mad.  I had to put a voice / data / text block on several of these numbers.

Got a call from 718-475-3741 and he gave a return phone number of 1-866-269-2279 along with a reference ID.  He identified himself as Richard from Edgewater Financial Services and said he wasn't calling for me, he was looking for an extended family member.  He wanted me to tell them their current phone number, he also wanted to know my name.  Very suspicious.  I think I will block both of their numbers from my phone now.  Also when I asked him how he got my number he wouldn't tell me.

Got a call this morning from the above number.  The guy said he was trying to get in touch with one of my neighbors and gave her name and street address.  Said he would like for me to get in touch with her and let her know he was trying to reach her.  Told him  didnt know her.  The address he gave is just down the street from me.  I am wondering how he knew that and how he got my number.

If you google someone's address on Mapquest, it will also enable you to search nearby addresses. I did this out of curiosity after we began receiving harassing phone calls from two collection agencies looking for a neighbor of ours who had defaulted on his mortgage and and student loans. They kept leaving
messages *insisting* that we have him call them. We just deleted the messages and ignored them. They
finally stopped calling after a month.

is this a real company

Got a call from them. They were trying to reach my mother. I have no idea how they got my cell number. Kinda creepy. The guy said his name was Jeff and that he was trying to get 'back in touch' with my mom.

I got a call and they kept wanting me to verify my last known address which I was like you tell me and also how in the hell did you get my recent cell phone  number? and saying I owed about 4000.00 in student loans which is not true because we paid them off I really think they are scammers the guy who called me was Victor Gomez lol... I wouldn't give them  any information because my husband was trying to look up things online and found this!

Received a call form this number looking for my ex sister-in-law.  I called the number back that was listed here, they answered it "this call is being recorded"  I asked the lady how they got my phone number & she said they were hoping I was a family member.  They are fishing!!!!  I hate calls like this.  I told them to unassociate my number with her & she said no problem.  We shall see if I get another call from them.

I talked with 2 people (the one who called and the one who answered the phone when I called them back to find out what company or kind of company was calling).  They were looking for an "employee", but that person was someone I had never heard of.  They also would not verify what kind of a business was calling mine.  Very shady sounding call -- in fact, it sounded like they were fishing for information.  Does posting do any good?  Are we simply at the mercy of anyone who calls?

Get calls from 866-269-2279.  I use an answering machine to filter all my calls.  Saves a lot of the harrassment from  these bill collectors.

There are two companies with the name Edgewater Financial Services:
One company is a legit collection agency for defaulted Student Loans and is subcontracted through the Department of Education.

Second on is a scam out of the Florida saying you've won.

I'm having the same problem with them harrasing my 80 year old father.  Same company.  Law Office of Frank Miller in Hacienda Heights, California is about to go after them for this.  You can look Mr. Miller up on California state bar website or call 714-883-0824.

The message on our answering machine said to call back so they could get in touch with our son, with a refernce number. When I asked who was calling, they only gave me a reference number, and said "it was a personal business matter". I gave the message to my son, who googled the phone number 866-269-2279.  He said it was a scam. Now today we received another phone call.

I'm getting calls from 732-379-5510 but they are leaving the same 866-269-2279 call back number. 1st call was in reference to someone I've not heard of. 2nd call only left the reference number. You can't even Google Edgewater Financial Services and come up with a legit business - seems like a scam.
