Called telling me there is a Law Suit in my name and then asking for Loisa.. Luosie...Which is not me!! I called back to explain they had the wrong number,they said ok... 2 Days past and they called again.. This time I was not going to let it go until I spoke with a supervisor, I called, explained the problem and was advised that they would not call again, I asked to speak with a supervisor and then I was hung up on. I called back, spoke to the same person, explained the situation, and he said ok, asked to speak to a supervisor and was hung up on again. I CALLED BACK, then that person (Male) advised that he would continue to call me, I advised if he did, my lawyers would be in contact he hung up again. I believe I will find the nearest pay phone and prank them with ALL of the change I have!! This is ridiculous!!!

These are criminal extortionists operating in overseas boiler rooms using VOIP to alter their identities and locations and out of the reach of US law enforcement.

If someone calls saying he's an IRS agent and demands that you send money immediately, hang up.
It's a phone scam.In fact, it tops the IRS "Dirty Dozen" list of tax scams this year, and it's been surging in recent months, the agency said Thursday.

The Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA), which oversees the IRS, has received reports of 290,000 scam calls since October 2013 and said nearly 3,000 victims have been swindled out of $14 million so far.

By altering their caller ID number to make it look like they're calling from an IRS office, these scammers often threaten vulnerable people like the elderly and new immigrants with things like arrest, deportation or the loss of their driver's license if they don't pay immediately for money purportedly owed.

Often leaving messages that say it's "urgent" you call them back, the scammers use common names and sometimes say they are from the IRS Criminal Division. They may even claim to know the last four digits of your Social Security number and send follow-up emails that appear to be from the IRS, TIGTA said.

They often demand that payments be made by prepaid debit card.

Once they make their threats, the scammers have been known to call back and again disguise their caller ID so it appears they are calling from the police department or the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV).

Or sometimes when they call, they may say you have a refund due and ask you to provide personal information so you can claim it.

The real IRS will usually contact you by regular mail first, if it needs to contact you at all. And the agency never demands immediate payment by phone or asks for credit card or debit numbers if they do call. It also never asks for personal or financial information by email, text or social media.

If you get what you suspect is a scam call, report it to TIGTA through its Web site or call 800-366-4484.

I received the threatening phone call from some dude with a heavy Indian accent claiming to be from the IRS. He called himself Eric Foster. Since I am unable to get my hands around this scumbags throat, I am going to try reporting it through the link in a previous post. As a recent victim of identity theft, I am learning a lot about how vile people can be. They just called back - I told the indian witch it was a b*lls**t call and I am in the process of reporting them. They hung up immediately.
To whomever reads this - it is up to us as individuals to fight this cr*p by reporting them to the police as well as our illustrious government. No one will help us if we don't fight back - it is our responsibility to stop them.

I got this message too. He Said his name was Eric Hanson with a Heavy Indian accent claiming to be IRS and that my ss# will be compromised but did not say my name. SCAM!

I also received a call from this idiot, said his name was Eric something, I could hardly understand him. He did say my name and address and said he was from the IRS tax crime division and was warning me of a law suit against me from the IRS. I hung up on him and called him back, he said hello and i said " you just called me ? " He said hang on while check your number and he again said my name and address and i said to him, ' What the he_ _ are you calling me for " and he replied " listen you SOB " and with that I yelled into the phone " YOU LISTEN TO ME YOU TOWEL WEARING MOTHER FU_ _ ING A_ _ HOLE " he hung up so i didnt get to finish saying what was on my mind.

My husband had the same thing happen to him today. Glad this forum is here in order to learn more about this scam. Guy called with heavy Indian accent and said his SS has been compromised and that he needed to call right away. They left a voice mail message.

I had a voicemail message from this number yesterday. It stared out saying, "This message is for you". Could it be more vague? The person said he was calling from the IRS Criminal Division and the he needed to hear back the second  I  listened to the message. He had a very heavy Indian accent, but went on to say he was Eric Foster. If I
I didn't call him back immediately, I would face serious legal issues and my social security number would be "red-flagged forever". Today I received another call from the same number but this time no message was left!  After hearing the message  it's easy to see how so many can be scammed. If someone doesn't know about this hi-tech scamming, they are intimidated and scared and end up doing what the caller asks of them. So very sad.

Just got a vm from this number as well. Wasn't too scared as it was so vague, but thought I'd research it. Sorry to hear it's happening to others, but glad to see it's not something I need to pay attention to. I'll be reporting the number as well. Thanks for the link above.

Same thing..... heavy Indian accent. Threatening that I'm being followed and tracked. That I owe the IRS over $2600 which I don't. Telling me if I pay the bill over the phone he won't have me arrested. SCAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 I Received the same call and believe me for the first couple of minutes, this sorry,S %*&#  human been, had me going.  I almost fail for it, until he ask me to pay online with a credit card!!!!...I ask him to please hold  the line until i get in touch with IRS and confirm his identity on a 3 way conference call, he immediately hung up the phone. I feel so sorry for the people that got scam, especially the elderly.......Yep!...  There are monsters like this out there in the world people beware!!!....Confirm with IRS before you do any transactions with them.

I received the same phone call. Can't believe he called back after I hung up on him. How do we get the Feds on these people?

I received the same phone call twice today.  About an hour apart.  Didn't answer either time, as I don't normally answer calls from numbers I don't recognize. Figure if it's important they'll leave a message. They did. Both times. Saying both times it would be my final notice. I figured it was a scam, so like everyone else I did a little research and that's how I got here. Shame some resort to taking advantage of others.

Received same call from guy with heavy Indian,dot not feather, accent. Reported it to my state AG. Don't have much hope that he'll be caught.  Notified my state AG.

I answered the call but did not say hello or speak at all. There were sounds in the background like a call center. Everyone talking at once. The caller hung up. Then I looked up this number. I don't know anyone in New York.

I just got a message from this guy like everyone else. My favorite part was "this message is for you" lmao okay. i never answer numbers i don't know, but if he calls me back I am certainly going to give him a piece of my mind !!!

I received a call today and I told him it was a scam.  Once I told him it was a scam he proceeded to tell me f^/k you, f&*k you, you bloody b@!#h and he hung up.

I got the same message as described above.  This is an obvious scam.

Got the same call today from a woman. I told her I was at work and could she please hurry. Or give me her number and I would call back. She said she would call me back in 45 minutes as it was a very serious and time sensitive matter. Reporting it and blocking the number.

Same story as above.  VM of "this is a message for you" about a "lawsuit." A follow up call with a woman an hour later.  Told her it was inappropriate and to remove me from the list.  Maybe they'll mark me as "not a rube."
