Scan call masquerading as a collect call from 'county jail' asking for credit card to complete the call.

Legitimate call from a Correctional Facility in Colorado (my brother is in jail) and it will ask for a credit card to connect the call and/or set up an account.

Thanks for your input. When I got this call the message was not as clear as I would expect from a legitimate company and did not gain my trust.

*LEGIT* This is county jail someone wants you to bail them out (again), & you're responsible for paying for the call

Years ago, a family member who was living with me at the time was conned by a convicted felon who had been reincarcerated for VOP. I came home from work one afternoon and opened the mail to discover $30 had been tacked onto my phone bill to pay for incoming calls from a correctional facility. Turns out this individual had been calling and calling, begging for a bail bond.. I HIT the ceiling.. Not only did I put a stop to the calls (and the relationship), but also collected $30 to cover the calls. End of story.

No it isn't. It is a legitimate call from an inmate at a Denver or Aurora County correctional facility

A female called collect.  The call asks for your credit card information, I enter information from a limited card  because the female sounded like my daughter.  Once the call was connected, I couldn’t I understand what she was saying and she disconnected the call.  I immediately  called all of my daughters who were fine, while I was calling them the collect call showed up two more times.

This number keeps calling me & I dont know who it could be? Ive only answered it one time..

From a correctional facility. Don’t know if legit or phishing randomly for someone to set up payment for unknowns to pay for their calls. Wants to set up credit card payment for calls. I’ve gotten 3 calls one day-4 the next-(each 5 minutes apart) 1 the next. I haven’t answered any time. In only one message the caller identified herself as “Heather”. I don’t know anyone with that name. I’ve blocked the number.

Received two calls from an unrecognized number which I did not answer. Looked up the number after the 2nd call and saw Denver County Jail. Went into freak-out mode & messaged my kids telling them they needed to check in with me immediately. 3rd call comes in and I answer. It was a female voice whose name I was not able to comprehend nor recognize. It went through asking if I wanted to block the call and what to do to accept (starting an account requiring a credit card) either this call or not this call but future calls. I hung up. Figured if its legit then I would get another call. Went back to the site to read a plethora of messages acknowledging a scam. Still haven't caught my breath due to the panic I went into. If the scammer was present right now, someone WOULD (me) be in jail calling to be bailed out. Sad for those who have gone through process and paid.

It’s legit. From jail. If the person trying to reach you does not have money to make a call, they will use someone else’s account, which is probably why some people don’t recognize the name said.
