Carpet cleaning POS with a spoofed number.  When will the government make this crap illegal?

I just got a call from the same number a minute ago and then a hang up.  I just wanted to see if anyone else got the same thing.

Just got call from this number early in the morning, disturbed my rest and almost woke up my kids. This need to stop!

A1 Cleaning -- telemarketers who have been using multiple numbers over the years to make robocalls offering carpet cleaning services.  Unfortunately they are still around and its owner(s) have not been jailed, fined, or put to death.

Missed the phone call was curious if it was something i should ignore apparently it is

Got a call last night @8:54pm wtf, robo call left a vm with press 2 to be removed... duh its a recorded call that left me a voice mail how am I supposed to press to 2 to opt out. 725 is the new area code for las veas nv

Called and missed so I called it back and bysy signal , spam don't answer

This call came in on my cell phone. They actually left a msg. Want your carpets cleaned?....A few seconds later they called my house phone. A few seconds later, the Medical Alert call, for about the 200th time!  I get hang up calls several times a day, every day!  So sick of this!!!

FCC rules on caller ID spoofing

Under the Truth in Caller ID Act,  FCC rules:

   Prohibit any person or entity from transmitting misleading or inaccurate caller ID information with the intent to defraud, cause harm, or wrongfully obtain anything of value.
   Subject violators to a penalty of up to $10,000 for each violation of the rules.
   Exempt authorized activities by law enforcement agencies and situations where courts have authorized caller ID manipulation to occur.

What are the rules regarding caller ID for telemarketers?

FCC rules specifically require that a telemarketer:

   Transmit or display its telephone number or the telephone number of the seller on whose behalf the telemarketer is calling, and, if possible, its name or the name and telephone number of the company for which it is selling products or services.
   Display a telephone number that you can call during regular business hours to ask to no longer be called. This rule applies even to companies that already have an established business relationship with you.

What can I do if I suspect a violation of caller ID rules?

If you have caller ID and receive a call from a telemarketer without the required caller ID information, if you suspect that Caller ID information has been falsified, or you think the rules for protecting the privacy of your telephone number have been violated, you can file a complaint with the FCC.

called 8/26 at 3:51 pm pst.  left a message about carpet cleaning.  but they call my number several times a week & it always comes from a number in a different area code - Idaho, Connecticut, California, etc.  so obviously not a real carpet cleaning company.

Spammer.  While it would be nice to believe that the Do Not Call list would do something (anything, really), it does NOTHING anymore.  It's a waste of time.  Install/use a call blocker, it's the only way.
