- Michael Thompson| 5 repliesThis "JP McConnell" if that is his real name is a complete CROOK AND SCAMMER! I was called by him months ago and scammed out of over $400 on a greendot moneypak. He told me I was guaranteed a $5000 payday loan, and after I paid the $400 they kept asking for more money! NOW, just now he called me and says he wants to give me a refund but wont answer my call. STAY AWAY FROM THIS CROOK!!
- Caller: AMSCOT PAYDAY LOAN
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Myra replies to Michael Thompson| 3 repliesi got the same call
- Michael Thompson replies to MyraYeah, were you ripped off too in the past? They took the money off my greendot faster then I could even think!! I looked up the address and background of this guy and he is associated with a Richard Fabrizi in Saint Petersburg, Florida, that is actually who the number is registered too.. I am going to be calling the attorney generals office, FTC, everyone now that I know J.P. McConnell is behind this scheme!!!
- J.M.I got the exact same call THREE times on my voice mail within FIVE minutes from JP McConnell saying that "he personally" scammed me out of a loan and wants to give me a refund. Yeah, ok. I'm sure this is real. NOT! Just another crook and scammer!! So annoying!!
- CW replies to Myra| 1 replyI also got the same call
- Michael Thompson replies to CWDid you get taken by them to for a greendot moneypak? Im going to see it through these guys get taken down!
- SFA| 6 repliesBoth numbers of JP McConnell and Richard Fabrizi have been spoofed (their numbers have been taken over by another person and/or company using software to disguise their calls). You have not received any calls from either of these men. We have contacted Verizon and have sent in reports to the FCC. We have already contact our lawyers and legal action will be taken against the web site and the purchaser of the spoof calls.
- Michael Thompson replies to SFA| 5 repliesHa. Excuse my language but your statement is complete bullsh**. You are just saying this because you are backtracking. Richard is not involved in this I did my research so excuse my previous comment however JP McConnell is involved in this scheme and will be brought down.
- JoeyDee replies to Michael Thompson| 3 repliesWhat makes you think JP McConnell is any more involved than Richard? Both names and numbers were faked on your caller ID. When you looked up the numbers, which are valid numbers "borrowed" by the scammer, you located innocent individuals. If you pursue any kind of legal action against these people you can find yourself in trouble with a libel suit.
Try to understand how these work: anyone can call you with ANY name or number showing on your caller ID. Most often the numbers aren't even working numbers, but sometimes the name and number of a real individual is used. Your own name and number might appear on someone's caller ID and they might finger you as a crook.
Read up on this in this forum. Learn more before you accuse innocent people and maybe get yourself in trouble for harassment or libel. - Michael Thompson replies to JoeyDee| 2 repliesHow about you research a little but more and you will see why we know who and what JP McConnell is involved in before you talk here. I am not concerned with any sort of suits against myself as there is enough evidence that all of my statements are in fact solid and have substance to them. You are probably associated with them and that's why you are on here defending them. Why would someone just pick someone's name out to make claims like this and utilize their phone number if they hadn't done something crooked or wrong? Do you think they maybe cursed somebody out to cause someone to "fake" their phone number? Get real.
- SFAI don't know which is crazier, that in this day and age and all the technology that Spoofing is not controlled, or that there are still people out there that would actually give up their money to someone because they received a phone call. Once you actually do research on what Spoofing is, I am sure that you will see with such intelligence that this is the case with these numbers and will fill obligated to remove all comments and accusations involving JP McConnell and Richard Fabrizi. If not then we must assume this is all a calculated scheme to cause harm which makes this legally accountable actions.
- CWG40 replies to Michael ThompsonThings to remember about loans offered by phone or e-mail: (Pay attention to item #4!)
Loans
1. No reputable lender will lend you money over the phone.
2. No reputable lender will lend you money by e-mail
3. On-line lenders are nothing more than conduits for another loan scam.
4. Advance fees for loans are always illegal. At least in most American states.
5. If you want to borrow money, go to an established brick and mortar lender that has been around awhile.
6. If you receive a call from someone with an Indian accent either a. threatening you or b. offering you something, you know it’s a scam and you should hang up immediately.
7. These people are predators, the calls are not random, they have information that they have bought from various sources and know your financial history. If you have ever taken out a pay-day loan, they have all your information. They know who they are calling. They like to pick on women, single mothers, the elderly and sometimes members of the immigrant community. Also, those who might be in financial difficulty.

Advance fee loans are illegal period and in some states, so are the payday loans. Please be aware the scammers may also claim down the road that you have taken a loan and try to extort money from you that way as well!

Consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $50.00 or so. If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.
