- BGG| 8 repliesI didn't answer this call because I don't usually answer numbers I don't recognize. So I googled this number and it turns out to be a scam, it's one of those numbers that requests money for a supposive vacation package that you won to go to florida. If you ever receive this number either don't answer or if you do answer tell them to take you off their list or you will report them. If you have ever entered any raffles at any state fairs or any other kind of convention, this is how these scammers get in touch with you trying to get you to buy into what they have to offer, do not get fooled for it might cost you, your identity or bank account.

- MDC replies to BGG| 6 repliesI got a call from this number - Asked for my wife, but he did not identify who he was. He said that she had signed up for a trip to Disney, which she said she had. However she had signed up at a restaurant in Indianapolis, but seeing 727 as the area code, I knew he was not from there, because I too am in the 727 area code, which is west central Florida. He then said he did not realize that it was 10PM because we were an hour ahead, however Indy is on the same time as us. I went to get my wife, and when she got on the phone he was gone. I did a reverse phone search, and all I can find is this is a landline in Clearwater, FL. The guy was very jumpy sounding - sounds like he is working on his own - not in an office.
- MDC replies to MDC| 4 repliesA little update - I did another reverse lookup - still no info, but it shows this number as a residential land line.
- wtf replies to MDC| 3 repliesIt's a marketing firm for lame ass vacations. My wife filled out one of these cards for the so called "free vacation drawing". They will call you up and offer vacations that sound like a great deal but are not, they also require you to plunk down $395 during that call, then once they have your card number expect more charges just Google about these so called vacations that you won.
Anyway we didn't sign up and the calls kept going on and on, finally I had to involve the authorities and the owner of the show you attended. The owner of this Marketing Firm is called John McCarthy - 813-928-5325 office 727-992-1091. If you get threatening phone calls as we did then be sure to call local Pinellas County, Florida police and file a complaint. Also contact the owner of the show you attended and voice your opinion about these people - a replies to MDCcould be

Local: 813-928-5325 - tsAn obnoxious man called my home late in the evening 3 times in a row and I told him there was a reason that I wasn't answering - because I had a small child sleeping he said why did you fill out your information on a drawing at an event in the twin cities and I told him that I had let the lady know I wouldn't be able to attend any meetings to learn about their program and she said that wasn't an issue. I would have ripped up the paper had I know some punk jerk was going to make calls to my home. He wouldn't shut up so I just annoyed him until he finally hung up. Unbelievable.

Marketing. - john mccarthy replies to TPPreally..where did you come in contact me??..thats laughable..I'm never rude to anyone..I'm always courteous and professional..and if you took 30 seconds to read the entry form that you filled out at an event..it would very cleary tell you that you would be getting a call offering you a discounted vacation..my number is on the back of the form so that if anyone EVER has a legitamate complaint they can reach me so that I may be of assistance in resolving any complaint they may have...and the SCAM..is actually a licensed and bonded seller of travel registered with the State of Florida offering discounted vacation packages over the phone.
If you have any questions feel free to call me anytime instead of blogging ignorant nonsense on the Internet..you people are ridiculous - Mom replies to wtfOk, we were just scammed in a similar way from same guy... will also contact the authorities. - Matt replies to BGGActually, this is not really a scam. The premise is that you filled out a form at one of the shows or events that you attended. If you had READ the info on the back of the form, it says that one winner will actually be picked, and this is true. All OTHER entrants will be called and offered a DISCOUNTED vacation. This is one that you actually PAY for. It IS NOT free. However, you are getting this at a fraction of what it would normally cost you. The reason for this is that it involves vacation ownership. You are required to attend a 90 minute resort tour. Again, this is NOT a scam.
- Michele| 1 replyGiven the fact that the same guy(s) have been associated on here with different companies offering the same scam only with different products, that should raise a red flag for you immediately.
My brother filled out a ballot to win a trip at Sexapalooza 2012 in Ottawa, ON, Canada. My sister in law just handed her credit card number over to these losers before taking the time to fully investigate what they were about. Not taking the chance to see if this works out for her, I advised her to have the transaction cancelled on her credit card.
My brother spoke to a guy named Anthony who was a sleazy, fast-talker trying to excite my sister-in-law without allowing her the time for the potential consequences to truly sink in. He offered my brother and his gf a Caribbean cruise for four for the very low price of $398 which includes "your hotels and all your accomodations".
This Anthony character insisted he could not send any advertisements, pamphlets, quotes ect. by mail, email or any other means until he had a credit card number as this was an exclusive deal by word of mouth only. This is [***]. He insisted they would only take this single payment of $398, nothing more, nothing less, because anything other than that could leave them open to lawsuits. This is true. But you would be agreeing to pay X amount of dollars for something with no valid contract in place, and no way to prove what this man promised you over the phone. I compared this "great deal" to purchasing magic beans over the phone.
Please do not fall for this ridiculous ploy as my in-law has.- Caller: Vacation Getaways - John McCarthy

- muze replies to MicheleI also filled out the ballot at Sexapalooza in Ottawa 2012 and received the same call. The call was from Cassidy Wood, Executive Co-ordinator at Oasis Travel (funny, I read another post somewhere about a guy from Oasis Travel named Josh, who was conveniently also an Executive Co-ordinator...how many "executive co-ordinators" do they have? ) She said that I won a trip to Orlando (4 days, 3 nights) with two free tickets to the Arabian Nights show, a trip over to Daytona (3 days, 2 nights) and a cruise to the Bahamas (3 days) plus some bonus trip.
All I would have to do is pay $199/person to cover some "prize tax" bs and also I had to find my own way down to Florida. I would receive an email confirmation and a hard copy in the mail with the details upon registering, which would happen once she transfers me over to their "Legal Department." When I asked what that was, she said that they record the conversation to protect themselves as well as the consumer to ensure everyone gets what was promised, and also that credit card companies have access to this recording.
Anyhow, I made her go through the whole spiel but did not let her transfer me over to their "legal department." When I asked her if I could get a number to call back because I wanted to think about it, I was told that I would have an hour, and she couldn't give me any more time, because it wouldn't be fair for people who were waiting to hear if they had won the prize... Funny, if I supposedly won, I think I should have some time to understand the details and decide what I want to do. Didn't realize winning came with an expiration.
But to be fair, I think they offer discounted vacations and they aren't going to completely screw you over. But I have no desire to see Florida. If I spend money on something, it's going to be somewhere I want to go. - AlbieWell I have to say me and my wife were at syracuse fair last year we also filled out a sheet of paper to win a trip to Florida well we didn't win but we had the best time we ever had in Florida for nex to nothing so thanks again sm
