Number spoofed by Portfolio Recovery Services - Debt Collector

Number called today.  Recognized as a fake number and did not answer.  No message left on answering maching

No message but they keep calling.

Talked to a person who called from this number today. He said he was with some police benevolent organization from Golden Valley Minnesota. Wanted a donation. Nothing came up on caller ID except the phone number.

I answered a call from this number and it was a recorded message saying that there is absolutely nothing wrong with my unspecified credit card but that I should press 9 to speak with someone about getting my interest rate lowered to 6.x % so I hung up.

I'm not sure anything really worthwhile happens after posting complaints here, other than allowing for venting and sharing of specific experiences which can be helpful.

What you should do is make sure your phones are registered with the National Do Not Call Registry and, if you experience violations of this, file a complaint with the Registry:

I, too received a call from 729-000-9880. The recorded message was "Rachael" from Card Holder Services. If I press "9" I would be able to talk to a live person to get my credit card rate down to 6.9%.  I never carry a balance. When I pressed 9, I was disconnected.  When I redialed 729-000-9880, I heard the following message - "the mailbox is full and cannot accept new messages.  Please try again, later."
I did report this number to the National Do Not Call Registry. This is not the only company I've received bogus pre-recorded calls from, lately.

Voice message left from 729-000-9880.  They left a voice message of 2 seconds of silence.

I received outgoing recorded message with instructions to press 9 to speak to an operator - did so and was told company was "Card Services Visa and Mastercard".  I requested to be put on their do-not-call list and operator said she couldn't do that and said that if I didn't want to hear from them, I should not answer my phone.

Basically the same as the writers above -- a female voice on a recording telling me that I have to lock in right away to get some favorable rate on an unspecified credit card.  I hung up on them.

Had these before and hung up, but this time I pressed 9 to speak to a rep.  After his greeting I asked which card this call was about.  No reply.  I asked which of my credit cards this was about..and he hung up.   I doubt they'll call again.

This number has been calling me on a daily basis. I don't answer because when I called my local phone company to try to block a similar call, I was told that any calls with the first 3 numbers "000" after the area code are telemarketing-type calls.  

Anyway, this number has been calling me on a daily basis. When I don't answer, they ALWAYS wait until the voice mail kicks in until they hang up, which is very annoying because I have to go through the whole process just to delete their call, which is literally 1/2 second of dead air. I'm starting to get very annoyed, especially since I am on the do not call registry.

I've noticed some people have said that it's a caller from Golden Valley, MN ~ There is no 729 area code in MN. I live in MN.

I am on the Do Not Call list.  They seem to be unable to stop this number, possibly because the 5 heads of this federal department were the ones watching porn 8 hours a day for months on our dollar.  When I say I am on the Do Not Call list I am told that it is not effective any more.

The time I answered they wanted a donation to the Golden Valley Police Dept.  I told them not to call again but they call about once a week.

Just got a call from this number. Left a message of silence for about 10 seconds and hung up. I don't know who this is. Don't pick up; that's my advice.

I received outgoing recorded message with instructions to press 9 to speak to an operator - did so and was told company was "Card Services Visa and Mastercard".  They would lower all my cards interest rates to 6.9% or lower.  To do this they would need the 16 digit card number from a credit card that I have the best standing with, so they could just verify that the card was valid.  She claimed they could not do anything with the number as long as I didn't give them the expiration date or the number on the back.

Leary, I asked for a number to call them back.  I Googled the 800# that she gave me, and it came up with all sorts of Chinese writing.  

I called the credit card company itself and they said if I had done this, they would have charged my account with a charge.

sept 28 2010  i also recieved this phone call today from this 729-000-9880 they wouldnt leave a message and i was cocerned i lost a long distance call i found out from a friend what to do and this is it i to have a do not calling list but they seem to cut right through that no matter what i do is there something somebody can do thank you

recorded message from "Rachel" of card services.  Pressed 1 and requested to be taken off AGAIN!!  Man on the other end was not very nice so I hung up.
