The caller ID says it is "SSI."  It simply records your voice as you answer.

I tried listing it as a "political call" and received the message "Error: Bad Request."

Received 4 calls from this number in two days.  Never left message and did not respond when I answered the phone.  What's up with the Do Not Call List That Doesn't Work???

Why do you expect the Do Not Call list to work on callers that are not required to use it and do not even have access to it?

Called my number. There was no caller ID displayed but the number was... fortunately I was on line and did a web search on it.  This site and the comments on the number turned up in the results.
Saved me wondering if it was a real call or not.  I did not answer and blocked the number as soon as the call was dropped..

What makes you think that the caller is not required to use it and does not even have access to it?

Do you know something that we do not?  Are you in any way involved with the caller?

Your Question One:  Huh? What?  Your double negative just put me in trance.
Your Question Two: Yes, Mike knows a great deal more about  scams and the DNC than most posters.
Your Question Three:  No.  Never. Not in a million, trillion years.

Why is it every time we give people information against the callers, someone jumps in assuming we work for the caller?

Something to do with being skeptical of those with knowledge.  The correct and useful skeptical approach is to ask questions, not my make accusations.  Misapplied, skeptical becomes mistrust.

The comment made by Mike-in-MD was in response to a post by a person who had received a number of calls from the same number, but without any sound being made by the caller.  The post is dated 16 August 2018.

Therefore the poster had no certain knowledge about the nature of the calls.  They seemed to be robocalls.
It was possible, but unlikely, that they were permitted under the terms of the FTC's DNC list.
The FTC rules that unsolicited sales calls - whether or not they are robocalls or there are any sounds from the calling number - are illegal and are supposed to be prevented by the DNC list.

Mike-in-MD made several claims about the calls.
Firstly that the caller was not required to use the DNC list, and secondly that the caller did not even have access to it.
There was no indication that his assumptions were at all correct.

It is not unreasonable to ask if Mike-in-MD had more information about the calls than was available, and if he was in any way involved with the caller.

Despite several indications that calls might have been made by a research company (in 2014 and 2015)  there is no proof that they were for research.  Indeed, a call of 2017 - less than one year ago - suggested that there was a better than even chance that they were primarily for sales.

So, critical responses to the request by "anonymo9us", from Dominique Pinon and B-Edwards were at best misled.  Indeed, B-Edwards not only assumed he (or she) was qualified to answer the questions put to Mike-in-MD but also then seems to have thought that the questions asked by "anonymo9us" were accusations (they were clearly not) and claims that Mike-in-MD is somehow possessed of a knowledge that surpasses even a person that he knows nothing about.  That's another slippery slope, B-Edwards.

The two posters, and Mike-in-MD, need to rein in their egos and instead of laying their own thoughts on the top of a post, read it and understand it before they make themselves appear arrogant and dense.
