This is a collection company that is trying to collect debt from my bankrupcy filed/discharged over 15 years ago!  They are scam artists. Zombie debt collectors.  Wrote letter to cease all contact for home phone...now they are calling my cell.  Always a diff phone number, but same [***] company.  I ignore and have to resend another letter (certified) to cease all contact.  File complaints as much as you can at websites in above post!

Got a call from a woman named Jerri Zernalski from this number.  No idea what they wanted.

Just got a call from this number. Left no message. One more number to add to the ignore list.

I hope Jerri Zernalski is a MILF.  Can't find a use for these people.

Recieved call at 6:03pm, no message left.

have bee called several times from this number and others..  Debt from over 10 years ago.  The original debtor is on my credit report as closed current.
Told them "Good luck with that"

Everytime I see a phone number I don't recognize and the only information in the caller id is city and state I get suspicious. Once again it is Portfolio Recovery up to their tricks by switching phone numbers again. I don't know how many numbers they have called me from, maybe dozens, that is
why appreciate when people write in with their input.

Received a call from PRA concerning a Southwestern Bell debt that is 8 years old...WAYYYY out of statute. They have contacted me from several different numbers. I simply ignore calls from numbers that I don't recognize then call them back. This time, I told the idiot on the other end that they needed to cease all contact with me and if they wanted to pursue this they could pursue it through my attorney. I also told them that I was aware of their shady and possibly illegal collection practices and that, again, they could pursue this matter through my attorney.

Yeah, they are at it again. Each time they call me from a new number I just add it to my block list. Ha! I actually think it's kind of fun.  I would imagine that their opportunities to collect on very old debt are drying up as consumers become more savvy. Not only do I get calls from these dummies, but I get calls from a whole host of other ones for people I have never heard of and don't know. It's pretty much harrasment and eventually it will catch up to them.

Call several times and leaves no message

These Portfolio [***] call me at least twice a day with different numbers on my cell phone. They have been calling with different numbers but I check on google and its always them. I have a smartphone that I can name the number and simply have no ringer. Voila prob solved they can call me a million times and I will never answer!!! [***]

Yeah, they are real as*hats.  The sad thing is, they probably have their employees brainwashed into thinking that they are working in a legitimate collections capacity.  Folks, these ain't your normal collectors that call after you are a month or so late.  They are nut sacks that buy up old and charged off debt hoping that they can cheese a few dollars out of you.  First thing is, most of the time they are calling the wrong number.  Even if they are calling the right number and it WAS your account at one time, likely the SOL has expired on it and they have ZERO recourse, it's been removed from your credit file it's so old and the original creditor isn't benefiting from their collections, if the original creditor is even still in business.  You have NO incentive to pay these cheese dicks - in fact, it can actually damage you if you make a payment as this will likely reset the SOL.  Ignore the crap out of them.  Let 'em call til their phone system falls apart.

call them back 10 times for every one time they ring your phone.  since they sometimes find it necessary to call 2 or 3 times a day, then this would mean 20-30 back to them.  find their toll-free number so it's on their dime.  dont give an account number, just ask stupid questions like "hows your day?" and "whats the weather like there"  long pauses.  when they get irritated, just return phrases that seem goofy and don't make sense.  who cares?  they find it necessary to harass us...let's return the favor.

Actually you shouldnt call them back, even if you have a caller id block on your phone. They pay phone companies and cell phone companies to have the block taken out.

For instance I had put my cell phone company put a screen name (Blah Blah) for that would show on peoples caller id instead of my phone number... Well my phone accidently ghost called them back as they were the last persons trying to reach me and when i realized someone was talking i picked up the phone and the lady asked is this Chris?

I hung up!

So just aheads up. Plus do not call them back on a work phone, house phone, or anyone you know phone. As they will retrieve the information and herrass them.

Has anyone actually been successful at getting these calls to stop? I am sorry but I am not paying my ex-husbands 17 year old phone bill. They are callings from many different numbers several times a day. I may change my phone number!

Calling from a new number for me.  They have been calling several times a week for months but never leave a message.   At what point is this considered harassment??  I have no outstanding debts that I know of but was divorced 18 years ago.  Still I certainly shouldn't have any responsibility for ex's debts.  What can be done??  It seems absurd to be paying for phone service that idiots like these can harass you with!

Yeah, it's pretty cowardly how they hide behind multiple numbers without leaving a message when they call.  I mean, seriously - if PRA wants money from me on some stale debt that may not even be mine...then they better cough up some information as to what it's about!  Additionally - at my convenience thank you very much!  Don't just ring my phone at times the auto-dialer randomly chose.  Pffft. They haven't even bothered sending a letter in writing as to what this is about.   What's sad is the people who do pick up the phone and buy into their trickery.  Thankfully, most of the world is getting pretty educated anymore by using sites like this one.  Companies like PRA make me sick to my stomach. PRA is really nothing but a bunch of dumpster-divers.
