Not IRS... Portfolio Recovery Associates are just a debt collection agency.  They have officea all over the U.S.   Major pains in the ass...but not IRS

I disputed a cellphone bill back in 2001 with ATT Wireless. I had changed calling plans but their system failed to complete the change so I had an extra $1896.03 in long distance and roaming fees. They admitted their error and that was the last I heard of it at the time. Turns out they wrote off the charge instead of removing the charges from my account so the balance is still linked to me. In 2010 this set of backstreet alley scum started calling. They have my ssn, dob, former addresses, former employers and family member info like dobs and addresses. I just told the guy it was not my debt and hung up. He called back and told me my mother said it was mine and I should pay it since how embarrassed she would be if they put the collection notice in her small town's local paper. He has no idea what would happen if he actually spoke to my mother and he sure as heck doesn't want to find out. These brilliant brand of morons buy OLD debts from debunk companies in order to intimidate payments from those who don't know their rights, the fair credit protection act or the ways to combat these dirt bags. They refuse to back down. They stand behind a rented attorney's name back east and have several ILLEGAL tactics to trick you into settling a debt that is probably not yours. I suggest adding them to your contact list and setting it to voicemail only or block. I enjoy getting them all fired up with quotes from the fair credit act.

I was actually going to pay them one time...got down to where I was going to give them payment info and they informed me they would add $6 per payment to automatically bill it.  I told them fine, I will mail it in and they refused to give me an address.  They called back and said I refused to pay...I said NO...I refused to pay YOUR extra fee and you wouldn't accept mailed payments so you will never get paid by me.

They called on another debt that HAD been paid off.  I told them I paid it to another agency two years ago and no way was I paying it again.  They are rude and scumbags...so I ignore all their calls.

You are right. If anyone ever answers a call from these [***] do not admit or acknowledge owing the debt. It will allow them to restart the statute of limitations time on an old debt that has been written off.

This company calls me every few weeks. Like with you'll they never leave a voice mail. However i return the call. They say i owe for a Bank of America account from 06. I currently bank with them B.O.A i have been telling them for 2 yrs to stop calling. When you inform them u won't pay their attitudes get nasty and they tell you they calm you again next week.

I well b sending a cease and desist letter, and if the calls.continue sue for harassment
