Has been calling me repeatedly for about a week. Never leaves a message. Today (Sunday) called three times. On other search engines it says this is a landline from New Jersey.

This is a phishing scam. Do NOT give them any of  your information. The people calling are claiming to be Capital One, when I confronted the caller they put me on hold for half an hour and then disconnected. Then they called the following day under a different number.

I filed a civil complaint under the FDCPA (Fair Debt Collections Practices Act of 1972).  Once they're placed on Certified Mail Notice to cease & desist they must stop.  I recv'd a $1K dollar judgement.  The federal courts are more than willing to hear your complaint.  They can be fined $1K for each time they call after being placed on notice.  I included Capital One President Richard D. Fairbanks in the compliant.  Their calls suddenly ceased.

I just purchased a new pay-as-you-go phone from AT&T and the first two calls I received were from these people in New Jersey. They sure are quick to jump on new phone numbers! No voice messages were left; however, it may have been due to the fact I hadn't even had the chance to set up my new voice mailbox.

did you send them a cease and desist letter first and then they kept calling? I counted 10 calls from them one day.

I second with a list of numbers. Please everyone chime in and make a list as complete as possible. Useful for feeding it into a call blocking system like I'm using.

First you can't tell Cap 1 not to call you they are the original Creditor. You can only wait them out. They have 180 days to collect or they by Law have to CHARGE OFF your debt.So sit back and turn on those funny soundboards and let Jeff the Drunk do your talking. These Dumb [***] will talk to a soundboard for 5 or 6 minutes.I have tapes to provbe it.Most important do not let them get you stressed ,that is what they are trying to do.Remember if you lose your temper you lose the battle.Good Luck and HAVE FUN.

They say they are Capitol One but they are NOT. This is a phishing call.
I've been called by the real Capitol One before and they NEVER ask for my card# because the already know it.
Now these people are calling my Mom and she doesn't even have a Capitol One card.
As a rule, you should NEVER give personal info to anyone that calls you. Better yet, if you don't recognize the number, DON'T ANSWER! Make them leave a message.
