- A-Noid1 from WI| 9 repliesToday I received a call from this phone number and they left a message on my answering machine. Caller ID showed it as "BACKBONE COMMUN". The man said his name was "BJ" and that he was calling from "Mind Labs"(???) about a job opportunity. I'm not certain if he said "Mind Labs" as it was difficult to understand him, because he sounded like he was looking away from the phone. He also had a thick accent which made him sound like he was from India or the Middle East. I did post my resume on career-related websites; however, he called me by my usual name instead of my birth name (my birth name is on my resume and career-related websites). Since this is the first call, I would normally ignore it; however, I decided to check the Internet. I discovered "BACKBONE COMMUN" has used other phone numbers in the past and harassed people by calling as much as 5 or 6 times in a day! It is true that this post is based on suspicions more than anything else; however, if other posts appear for this phone number, then my intuition was correct. If I find out I'm wrong, I will return with a post apologizing and attempt to remove my post.

- A-Noid1 from WI replies to A-Noid1 from WI| 7 repliesOk, I received an e-mail and the company is called "Mindlance" not "Mindlabs". His name was Vijay (not BJ). They are a staffing agency (temporary employments, etc.). It appears legitimate and I sincerely apologize for the confusion. I do wish people would speak more clearly when leaving messages and explain how they obtained my information. I also wish they would explain that while they are not from my area, the job opportunity is in my city. I'm guessing they are using Backbone Commun. for their phone service and that caused a lot of suspicion. I may need to find a way to provide feedback to Mindlance. If somebody wants this removed feel free to have the owners of this website do so; otherwise, I think it would be helpful to others who experienced the same thing as I did.
- Gordon ChristensenA company claiming to be mind lance offing me a job at eBay is this legit
- Caller: 1 (678) 389-3007
- BookloverI wanted to respond to Gordon. I can't speak to a job offer at eBay, but I can tell you I've had plenty of calls and experience with Mindlance the staffing agency. I do believe they are legit, but very sneaky. It's my understanding that they are primarily an IT/software recruiting/staffing agency. And in Milwaukee one of their largest clients is H-D.
The people who have contacted me are IT recruiters trying to help fill a Marketing related position. They never provide reference numbers or full job descriptions. They typically never tell me they are recruiting for H-D, but they're a dead giveaway. In the meantime, I probably get two additional recruiters who send me full job descriptions with the reference # for the same position and no hastle.
The Mindlance recruiter will call everyday sometimes twice looking for your resume. And if you don't send it to him b/c you've gone with another recruiter then you get the third degree: who? when did you send it? etc....
I suggest you work with someone else, just another person's opinion.- Caller: Mindlance
- D.M. replies to A-Noid1 from WI| 4 repliesI had the same strange experience with these people today. I believe, but not positive, that they are not legitimate. They provide very generic gob description, which looks like a bad copy without editing. Additionally, they claim that their "client", which is always American Express, needs a unique ID number for the potential candidate, so then they proceed to ask if you are American Citizen, and then they ask for your birthday and the last four digit of your social security number. Anything like this looks highly suspicious to me. They might be a fraud.

- Mark S. Johnsonquasi-legit.... they only do their job correctly when they think they will get caught....
if they open h1b visa quotes up to max again... they are going to be the first company
to sack American contractors in favor of indians h1bs....
If you get a call from mindlance... you are working for a company that is or will become h1b dependent in future because that's what happens when hire people from India to find Americans jobs...- Caller: Mindlance

- kjd replies to D.M.I had the same experience, I received a job offer by phone, and they ask for my birthday and last four digit of my social security the agency is named Mindlance, from N J the phone number is 732-898-1993, is a fraudulent agency.
- CarlaI got my call this morning, which I dumped in VM. Then came an email from the guy. His name is Arun Kumar. The email is where I found Mindlance Inc, as the company he was calling from. First of all, in the VM, he paused when telling me about a job opportunity long enough to refer back to his notes about the area where I live. I cant trust this barely English speaking guy to be legit when he doesn't even know what is the largest city near me, as the location of the job he's calling about. And if it were an honest place I really don't think everyone's first point of contact would be from a person you can barely make out a few words per sentence at best. Besides, I find it odd an employment agency out of state would be calling me for real work. I trust my instincts, and my instincts says forget it. 732-753-0094 is the number that called me.

- Torrell| 1 replyMindlance called me today for an engineering position. Yes they do make you very skeptical wanting to know your birthday??? I feel that was a weird interview question to ask at the time. I hope I did not send my information/ resume to a scam artist. I did research on the company and the website looks legit. But anyone can make a website!!! I suppose to get a call next week for an interview in person so I will see how this goes and give you guys an update. But I will go on to say I wouldn't advise anyone to give out private information over the phone to anyone especially that can barely speak the English language.
