The caller ID said "New Jersey."  I figured it was another credit card scammer, but I answered it.  The person told me he was with a company that cleans chimneys from the roof, and they are talking with several of my neighbors on my street. He actually gave me my street name.  I have never had a telemarketer call me for a service before, so I thought this might be  legitimate. He continued explaining to me the problem with sediment build-up, etc. He asked me if I had any senior citizens living at my home.  I just said, "yes - several, and let me just interrupt you, as I have a maintenance company that I'll talk to about this issue."  WIth that he hung up on me...no thank you, no nothing.  I then called the number back to complain - well, this number is actually directory assistance in NJ.  It's amazing that these scammers can fake the phone number they are calling from.

I have been receiving calls from 555-6769, but with different area codes.  When I dialed these numbers I was told that the numbers were out of service.  
I have been letting the calls go to the answering machine, they hang up each time but not before the machine records it as a call.
Frustrated that these calls are increasing, I answered it.  The caller wanted to speak to my husband.  I refused and asked them to stop calling.  Of course they did not.  When I answered the next call they said my name (?!) followed by silence.  I am on the do not call list, what else can I do.  I don't think that I can block every area code+555-6769.  Any solutions?  Of course I am not answering the calls again.
It is suspicious that the same seven numbers are used over and over again with different area codes.  Seems suspicious.

What a crock, The chimney cleaning scam. I told the guy I would never do business with a company that used a fake number and no call ID name. He then told me he was calling to do me a favor! LOL! They were in my neighborhood and wanted to inspect and clean etc etc etc, I asked whose house in the neighborhood they were working on. He tells me they are right down the block. I again asked a name and he gave me two generic anglo names. I told him he was full of crap, I live in the middle of no where. I doubt we have a Block in the entire town. I would like to thank my Gov't for being completely useless in enforcing Do Not Call laws. What a joke

Called but did not say anything when I answered  This phone number now added to my blocked list.

Rc'd a ph.call from this number after 20:10pm in the evening. Said, "Hello" x2. No response. Who calls so late in the evening to sell their services?
Hung up on me. Fine by me. I do not normally speak to telemarketers or salespersons in the evening! Also, hid their I D of their business!

got a call from this number tonight at 750pm. I didn't answer and they hung up when machine picked up. caller id said: new jersey

Answered phone said hello 2x no answer.  Called back number recorded message said the number you have dialed is not
in SERVICE and to please check the number and try again.

I just received a call from this number, and before I could finish saying hello, I could hear the guy yelling something about the National Do Not Call list followed by my husband's name (our number has been registered since the NDC list came out). Naturally I was shocked, especially when the caller continued to sound aggressive over the phone, when I said,  Excuse me!? You're calling my home and speaking to me like that? He replied,  Relax.  I thought you were (my husband's name) you stupid f****ing c**nt.
I hung up before the guy had a chance to say anything else, and ruin my day, completely.

This number came up as NJ call. Usually screen all calls but was expecting a phone call. When I picked up the person knew my name and said he was calling from a chimney cleaning company. He said that he calls us every year. I knew he was lying because we haven't had anyone here. He gave me this whole schpeel how dangerous it is not to have it cleaned and that even if he hadn't been here he has been calling. A lie! Just to get him off the phone I told I had to discuss it with my husband. He said he understood but what did I want to do. I told him to give me his number and if we were interested we would call him. He hung up immediately! We are also on the DNC list. Why are these scammers still able to call us!?

The man called at 10:00 am and asked to speak to my husband  by his first name.  I asked who was calling and he asked me " who are you"? I answered "who are you"? He got arrogant and said he was my husband's divorce attorney, then proceeded to say "oops I made a mess of things didn't I , I will call him at work, I said "you do that !" and  hung up on him.    

I got a call this morning at 10:45AM, wanting to clean my furnace and chimney......I told the woman I just had it done in the spring and she hung up.       How do these people get away with trying to scam people...

A con trying to sell chimney service.  How the hell do these lowlife scumbags get away with it?
National DO Not Call is useless.

Just called my number at 6pm, fortunately I missed the call.
