I had been called by 732-839-2044 every few days, then I left a message at 732-839-2006 for them to stop. Tonight I got called by 732-839-2008, but I wasn't home. I called 2008 and left another message to stop calling my phone number. It's all Rutgers Foundation or Rutgers Alumni, wanting to keep in touch. Then why don't they leave messages? I had been avoiding picking up the phone when they call when I'm home, but next time I will pick it up. I've read that sometimes no one is on the line when you do that, but I hope there is so I can ask to be taken off the call list.

I got a call from them as well being an alum of the university. I think it is great that they are reaching out and trying to keep us in touch. Plus its student's calling so be nice to them. They are just trying to help out the university as much as possible especially since budget cuts have hit them severely. Be nice and talk to them!!!

They do not need to call my home after 9:00 at night. I find it hard to be nice to the "student" who: wakes my children three nights in a row with a post 9:30 pm phone call and who tells me that because they are a non-profit they can call my home at whatever time they choose.

Furthermore, I gave my annual donation already and don't appreciate repeated phone calls asking for more money.

Repeated phone calls from "students" at Rutgers University. The caller identifies himself as a current student at RU who  would like to speak to an alumnus about their Rutgers experience. The phone quickly turns into a solicitation for a cash donation to the school.

Callers ignore repeated requests to remove your phone number from their call list.

Also, callers feel that they do not have to adhere to FTC guidelines regarding the hours that they may call someone's home.

I received a call from this number at 9:46 pm on a weeknight this week.  I did not answer and no message was left. I received several similar calls from Rutgers last year, and when a student soliciting donations finally reached me, she would not take "no" for an answer, even though she had records that I had donated to Rutgers earlier in the year.   I guess it is just another questionable business practice conducted by Rutgers; pick up the Star-Ledger just about any day to read about others. I guess my last donation might have been my final donation.

Ireceived a phone call just after 9:00 PM.  After saying hello at 5 times, there was no response. I used *69 to learn the number.  I consider it to be harrasment.

I got a call from them.  They left no message.  I can't understand how they could need money.  When I was a student several years ago anyone who couldn't pay the tuition got kicked out.  Based on this "pay as you go or get kicked out" sysyem, they can't possibly be out of money.  Besides, if they are broke where do they find $47 million a year to spend on their sports program?  Last I checked the purpose of college was to get an education, and sports, especially at a state school, was a distant second on the priority list.

Be nice to those Rutgers callers----they have to raise money to pay Greg Schiano his salary!

yeah this is ridiculous. They call me and my parents at all hours of the night. I'm a current student! If i'm paying them $25,000 a year, i highly doubt they need anymore from me. I just don't get where my money is going...actually its not even my money haha student loans because rutgers wouldn't give me scholarships. Apparently my 3.9 gpa wasn't good enought. Grrrr... But anyway, don't give these people your money. Their current students are paying enough.

I'm not sure why the word students is being surrounded by quotation marks; the person calling you is indeed 9.5/10 times a current student of the university. Also, if you aren't thrilled about being called at 9:45 or 9:30, avoiding the phone call is probably not the best way of going about that--Just pick up the phone & kindly explain that you're household is in bed & to designate this phone call as a "Call before 9." VOILA! Done.

Also, I'm shocked to hear that people are complaining about fundraising. Whats so difficult about helping the university you graduated from? RU is #1 in the country when it comes to alumni support; its been that way for years. I hope this new generation of graduates doesn't change that. I honestly cannot believe what I just read from the above poster.

Sacrifice what you'll spend on one trip to Burger King & help put books online for students, help increase scholarship support, keep libraries open past 1:00AM, and help BOOST Rutgers' rankings. People, these are your alma mater, please be nice & please help out. Communication is the key to solving life's dilemmas, big & small. God bless & see you On The Banks.

They called me on Christmas Eve at 7 PM. I told them I was in the middle of dinner with family. They asked if they could "just take 5 minutes of your time." I said NO WAY! I just traveled across the country to be with FAMILY on CHRISTMAS!!! How rude to INSIST even after I explained that. The whole tabe was waiting for me to get off th phone. I asked for his nuber and said I would call them back. He wouldn't give it to me and so I hung up on him. UGH!

I wouldn't give it to you either! lol. Wish I could go to McDonald's and yell at you for taking too long to cook my burger.

be nice to a telemarketer who calls after 9pm on a work night?  it's rude enough to harass people in the first place.  if you like to pick up and be nice to telemarketers, why not sign up for all of their calls, so they leave the rest of us alone?

These people who claim to be rutgers "students" are probably scammers who only want your money. they claim that its donation, but chances are they are pocketing the money themselves. they ask very unprofessional questions and demand personal information

Oh, please.  They get paid $10/hr + to make these lousy calls, and every dime goes straight to the football team anyway.  I know because I AM A RUTGERS ALUMNI AND AFTER SEEING WHERE THE MONEY GOES, I WILL NEVER DONATE ANOTHER DIME.

I can assure you that these people really are students. My roommate is one of them. Please understand that if they seem rude or insist on saying something you don't want to hear, it's not because they are trying to be rude at all. Their calls ARE monitored and if they don't get results or act persuasive enough, they are fired without hesitation. This is the only source of income for some. They understand that most of you really don't want to donate to Rutgers, but they are trying to go about it in the way least likely to get them fired

Let me clear up a few misconceptions about this number. I work for the Rutgers Telefund. I understand that our solicitations can be quite annoying (to be honest, I do not have a high opinion for telemarketers myself), but we are trying our hardest to raise money for the University. We have lost over $60 million in State budget cuts, and President McCormick just sent an email to use explaining that there are going to be large layoffs due to these cuts. That is why we are in dire need of alumni support. The gifts go to any area of the University you would like, it does not go straight to the Football team unless you designate it to. Our libraries and career centers are not supported by tuition or state funding at all (i.e. 0%). We are trying to do a good thing for the University, and I apologize for being annoying. But since we are a non-profit organization, we are allowed to call people until 10pm EST. If you do not like being called after 8 or 9, please ask the caller to place you on a "call before 8pm" or "call before 9pm" list. Our purpose is not to harass anyone, it is simply to help the University. As a final note, all callers are current students. They constantly hire new students as seniors graduate. So you can be assured that the caller is in fact a current student.

I'm surprised that people are so shocked and offended by these calls.  All nonprofits do this.  At least every charity that I've ever given to has asked for more money later, usually by phone as well as other means, but bottom line is phone calls are cheaper than mail.  I suppose if you never give to any then you wouldn't be aware, but if you care about nonprofits that you donate to, then suck it up and deal.  I agree they shouldn't call late and shouldn't be rude, and shouldn't call at all if you ask them not to, but in this case they are responsive to those requests if you ask.  seriously... reeeellaaaaaxxxxxx.....  turn off the ringer in your kid's roommmm....
