This is some tech company that has no computer knowledge.  Claimed some issue with unsecured facebook and other e-mail sending messages.  It sounds like a scam trying to get access to the computer, possibly for bad reasons.  DO NOT DO ANYTHING THEY SAY or if you already did it: GET PROFESSIONAL LOCAL IT HELP to clean your computer out.

The caller sounded like a foreigner. He implied he was with "Windows" and that my computer was sending them messages that let them know it had a security virus - and it was essential he help me "fix" these problems with my computer. I let him talk and pretended I was doing everything he asked even though I knew this was a scam.

Guy had a strong Indian accent, and sounded so worried about the viruses and error messages on my computer.  I laughed, and he asked what was wrong.  I asked how he knew that, and he said it was because they were IT for every windows computer.  He also said I wasn't the only one getting the call.  I said, I know, I'm a computer technician and you spend a lot of time calling people and scamming them.  He said "Ok Ma'am, have a good day."  lol

He said where he was calling from but he was a fast talker.  Bigtime scam, spread the word, cus people do get taken by this crap.  Never allow people who call YOU access to your computer.

My husband got this same call today from a foreign woman telling him how our computer is at risk. She had him look at certain areas of the computer to determine if we had virus attempts. They claim to have software that will fix your PC. When he asked what the cost was they hung up. They have called back 2 more times in the past few hours. I told them not to call here again. We'll see. SCAMMERS FOR SURE.

Just got the same call, but they spoke so fast I did not get a company name.  She had an Indian accent. Said there were problems with windows computers and asked if I was the owner of the computer in my home.  I should have played along to see what scam they were trying to pull.  I feel sorry for anyone who might fall for this.  When I told her I am an IT director responsible for 500 computer and that I would surely know of any problems, she hung up.

I received a call from Help Tech 247 (757-123--6658) claiming that my computer has been downloading from some unsafe sites so that I have been receiving error messages.  When I asked the caller who had an Indian accent how he knows about my computer's activities, he (later changed to a female operator without an explanation) could not provide any clear answers. This seemed a scam.

Woman with a very strong accent asked if I had a computer that used Windows, and then talked about how the Internet is a scary place with a lot of bad virus that could affect my computer.  I might have led her on for awhile, but her accent was so strong I could barely follow the conversation.  I hung up.

I got a call from this person said they were microsoft techs and said that my computer was having very big problems and it was sending out unwanted emails and loading viruses into my computer and they had told me to go to my run tab and had me type in iexplore they can show me all the viruses I have. also in my address bar had me type in some things to show me, I really thought at first that I was talking to a legit service tech person from microsoft. Some how they took over my computer and said that they will clean up all the viruses' for me and for me to just seat back and watch what they were doing they had took over all control of my computer and then they said if it was a big problem they would have to charge me 179 dollars and I told them to forget it I can't afford that kind of money now, they have downloaded all kind of software into my computer and said that it will never run again unless I bought there software and agreed to pay for it, They put me on the phone with there manager his name was Eric Dawson so he says, The number they gave me to call himI had problems 1-800-935-0714,He was very rude and was saying that I would have to get this software from them or I wouldn't be able to use my computer without any problems again, then he said he give me a discount and only charge me 99 dollars for low income people, I this point I didn't know what to do since they all ready had control of my whole computer so I said ok to 99 dollars just so I can get back control of my computer, But after all that they were on it for hours making all kind of changes to it and they said they would leave me a message on my notepad when they were done. I finally got a message and said that they were done and they had defrag running on it for a day and after all that was done my computer was going hay wire windows popping up on after another I called them back and talked with Eric Dawson and told them of the problems I was having and I wanted a refund he was very rude and said if they didn't let them take care of the problem that it will never run again it got to the point I was arguring with him and insisting that they put my 99 dollars back into my account, he made it clear to me either you pay for there services or they wouldn't fix my computer I told them I didn't want the service and now my computer is locked up and I cannot even sign on with my own password, I feel like an real ass to have fallen for this all I know is they are holding my computer hostage and all my personal information and everything in it. Is there anybody that can give me some good advice as what I can do to stop these people from ever doing this to anybody else...  Please Help  Thanks for reading. Just be aware of helptech 247

Like everyone above, I too am receiving these scam calls. The first guy (with a strong Indian accent) "Shawn" almost had me going but I was just getting a strange feeling and told him to call me back tomorrrow. I call my "computer guy" and he told me of the scam, so when "Shawn" called me the next day............well let's put it this way. I figured hanging up on him was too easy for them. I went on to tell him I know his name was not "shawn" and told him I had called the state police and gave them the phone number that appeared on my caller I.D and that I knew this was a scam. As I continued I got more angry! I'm not going to share what I told him he could do and how to do it, and enjoyed every minute of it with this outlaw!!! I thought that would be that, but this afternoon 757-123-6658 (Mike, ya, right) called and I made sure I was just as hard on him as I was with "Shawn", and IF they call me again!! My word's will be even more severe!!!!

Usually I don't answer numbers I don't recognize on called ID.  So glad I checked out the number in case they call back.  They just called here.  If I'm not busy next time they call, I might answer and mess with them, hee hee hee.  (I know I should not be mean to telemarketers, most of them are just trying to make a living.  However, scammers are another story.)

Possible answers if they call you and you want to mess with them a bit:
=Thanks for letting me know, I'll check the Microsoft website for potential problems; hang up.
=Thanks, I will have my own tech check it (or my very tech savvy kid, or my computer engineer kid/spouse/friend) check it out.
=I don't know why you are calling me, I use Apple products. Then complain about Windows.
=Thanks for the call.  How's the weather?  Start complaining about something unrelated.
=Or keep saying "hello?" like you can't hear them. Bang the receiver on something.
=If they sound Indian, wish them a "Happy Diwali, may you have much light in your life.  Thank you for calling kind sir/mam" Hang up.  The holiday is this weekend, Nov 3rd.
