It is Portfolio Recovery Associates, a debt collector.  Apparently I owed $3200 from an old debt.  Well, I paid it off, right over the phone, and they promised me they won't make a judgement against me.  Whew.

Yeah until they sell the sheet with your name on it and someone else buys if for a penny on the dollar.  By the way, debt collectors cannot make a judgement against anyone.  Only a judge can do that in a court hearing.  Also since there was no debt validation, that debt could have possibly been someone else's and you paid it so now you are out $3200 dollars.

All this is assuming I believe you, which I don't.  Especially when it comes to this merry band of thieves.

Who pays that amount with out a v.o.d ?

I've NEVER trusted PRA, since they tried to bully an elderly and sick family member of mine into selling his life insurance to pay an unvalidated debt. Simply put--I have no use for them.

You had an "apparent" debt.    Hmmm, lemme see now, Brian.    You didn't have a concrete debt, but an "apparent" debt.  

And you  just give PRA some account number (a debit card methinks) to pay an "apparent" debt?  

Have I got that right?

You NEVER should have done that!  They buy debt that is very very old & way past statute dates for it to even be collectible.

Hmmm... looking up this number gave me Portfolio Recovery Associates, and this number is tied in with another one that called my office line some 14 times this morning between 8-9:30AM, but the coward on the other line, 859-586-9557, left no message, as did this one not leave one... fools... the first three letters in the last word of their name fits their profile.

Any one in New York state being harassed by this company of bottom feeders file a complaint with the attorney general office they sued them last yearaand took millions from them for their blatant disregard for laws!!!!

I hope your kidding...cause they said I did as well, and I didn't...I had made a settlement with another company for a lesser amount owed, then they took over the remainder of the debt and was trying to collect again..they can call all they want...I don't answer and it doesn't bother me one bit.

This is another Portfolio Debt Collectors number.. Don't ever talk to them... They are the bottom of the barrel. Anybody calling from them is nothing but trash.
