Didn't recognize this # when called @ 3:00 pm. Didn't answer and no voice mail left. Very frustrating!

I have a family member that is seriously ill and don't need these crank calls. I don't answer because its not a number I know, and its a unknown person. But they let it ring forever till I'm fully awake. It scares me to death that they call early in the morning. I have anonimous call blocker but they still get thru. Someone needs to call the attorney general of VA and report these phone calls.

This is an ALTERNATE number that this particular debt collector uses in an attempt to conceal their harassment tactics. DO NOT ANSWER and DO NOT CALL them as they will use any number of convincing manipulative tactics to either scare you into making some form of payment (not necessarily associated with any legal debt) or to get your financial information so as to illegally empty your accounts or charge up any available credit you have.
This collector uses known numbers to make legal calls and useses numbers like this one that are not known to do illegal collection or to harass "under the radar".
Also, VERY IMPORTANTLY, there may be someone who has your same name or a similar name and the other person owes a legal debt. These type of collectors will gather contact information on anybody with the same or similar names of the person owing a legal debt and attempt to legally or illegally collect from anybody who they can scam. DO NOT SPEAK TO THEM OR EVEN ATTEMPT TO CONTACT THEM. THEY WILL GO AWAY EVENTUALLY AS LONG AS YOU IGNORE THEM!! CHANGE YOUR NUMBER IF YOU WANT BUT DO NOT SPEAK TO THEM AS THEY HAVE A WAY OF GETTING YOU TO ACCIDENTALLY GIVE THEM JUST ENOUGH INFO TO STEAL YOUR MONEY!!

those are the 32 numbers I have received calls from. at least 30 calls each from. Running up on 1000 calls.

the company is called CRA they are a debt collector that buys old debt..

They called and said they were CRA (I looked it up, and it said Consumer Recovery Associates, which upon investigation turns out to be a shady operation) and to please hold for a representative.  This guy comes on and says I took out a credit card 11 years ago and that I owe them money, but can settle by the end of the day for a lesser amount.  I told him I did NOT take out a credit card, and he said he could prove I did.  I was in the process of asking him how to go about getting this erased cause it wasn't my card, and he hung up on me.  I didn't yell or use profanity.  I called back and told this other guy what happened, and he told me to go to the police to file a report on a stolen identity.  This is from 11 YEARS AGO!  What the heck is going on?

This company keeps calling me.  my house, my cell and they don't talk.    what right do they have.  They often call from other numbers.

Got a call from this number.  They tried to get me to verify that they were speaking to me.  I told them they had the correct name but that i wasnt going to give them anymore information.  When I told the guy, he got rude.  He told me that he wasnt asking my information just asking that i verify.  I told him i understood that but i needed to know who was calling and for what.  I told him that I understand he cant give me details, but that I needed to know what company he was calling from or for.  He then said, "Think about it, its not that hard, if I already have your information, why would I need it?"  I then told him, "Then you dont need me to verify anything except that you are an [***]."  Then hung up.  I waited a few moments, called the number back, and pretended to be a different person and asked that they remove my number from their list.  After some investigating, I found out they were calling to tell me that I had an old mastercard account that needed to be paid.  Which was not even mine...same last name different first name.

I got a call from this # just past 8 a.m. this morning, and simply pressed “Ignore” button on my phone - and no message was left.  Dialed back, blocking my caller i.d., and got the recorded “not in service” recording.  This outfit is a collection firm, apparently using both Portfolio Recovery Associates (PRA) and Consumer Recovery Associates (CRA).  May or may not engage in “legitimate” collection activities - but also, under these names, engage in the “bottom feeding” area where they buy old debt packages, well beyond statute of limitations to collect, and then auto dial hundreds - or thousands - of #’s, sometimes leaving a voice mail message, usually not.  From what I understand from a friend more knowledgeable about telephone technology than I, one of their reps will get on-line where they not a live answer.  Other “live” answers may then be ignored, which is why some who answer indicate nobody there.  Rep then tries to coax or threaten something form person reached, and if he/she collects something even a small %age of the time, they make money on these items which they’ve bought for ¢’s on the $’s.  I was divorced several years ago, and had an attorney handle everything, and had few debts, all small and all current.  Have no debts since then or now.  They are calling me either because he may have let some minor item “fall between the cracks,” or from mistaken identity, and I don’t give a damn which it might be.  Whatever, they are dealing within an area where absolutely no legal basis for any transaction with them, and are simply weasels dealing with lies, half truths, and with absolutely reason why anybody should respond to them.  Have always been around, and now use telephonic technology to ply their slimy trade.  Always IGNORE them, and never provide info!  Be wary, because as I understand it, if you ever communicate and seem to acknowledge any possibility of indebtedness and provide them with personal info, YOU CAN place even an illegitimate item back into a position of collectibility.  So NEVER respond to these scum bags, and if you do happen to become on-line with one, give no info and terminate call ASAP.
