Calls from this number are passed through a hi-jacked cell phone account.Call shows Herndon Beach, Virginia as the origin. The calls actually originate in Jamaica and Pakistan. These are scammers raising money for Islamic Terrorist groups. Do not respond, do not call them back, do not pick up the phone.

Got call from this number that said I was doing illegal things and that I would be prosecuted.  Called for a Steven (I didn't understand the last name).  Tried to call it back and it just hung up.  I called back again and got a recorded message that they couldn't take my call.  I left a message not to call me and make threats and not to ever call my number again.

This number just left a message on my wife's phone saying that she is being charged with fraudulent charges regarding her name and social security number. Do not answer. This is a scam trying to get your personal information.

I got a call from this number today. Same story, going to have charges against me for "fraudulent activity involving my SS#." Of course, they didn't SAY what my SS# was. They also do not say who THEY are, only a "representative" of a company. I believe this is a scam. I don't do "fraudulent" things, therefore, I am not afraid. Besides, my brother-in-law is an attorney so, BRING IT ON BABY!!!

I got a call from this # 757 414 2217 accused me of fraudulent charges for a capital one card in 2002, I ask  questions she was not able to answer them , she said she was calling from a   division of per trail process in Dallas TX and that I owe money to capital one said that someone from the Dallas division would serve me at my job, when I ask for still more information about this matter she tried to tell me she had  giving all she could give and if I wanted to make arrangements to paid I told her no. to give me a manager she hung up. I call back got another  lady who I believe was same person, and she hung again.  so call back this time got a man who said his name was Darrell king  he tried to get smooth talk me into making some kind of payment , I said no he said that I would be served that only way i could solve problem that I couldn,t talk to anyone. and after more  of my asking for information he   refused to talk anymore . I told him reason he had no infor was because he was lying and I hung up. I did post truthful

I got the same message from 757-414-2217 that says that fraudulent charges had been made in my name and ss#. It does sounds like a scam since we all got the call saying the same thing and can't call them back or leave them a message.

I also got a call from this number it was a recording saying my name and social was involved in fraudulent charges. They also gave me some number to identify my case. Called back couldn't leave message.

I got the same call on my cell phone, then a hour or so later -  the same number called my boyfriends cell phone too. he got the same message and it was about me. I'm worried cause that was really scary and my ex husband has left me with a few old debts in the past about 10 years ago, so it could be over that. do you guys really think this is a scam? HELP!

Bad collector behavior is not merely "a scam". It's illegal and a violation of your rights, points we seemingly cannot stress enough. Try reading some of the items linked by Tamianth a mere 47 minutes before your post. It should not take long to replace fear with reason.

When I  returned call it was for a collection agency for Capital One.  They did have my name & gave me the last 4 numbers of my social.  Supposed credit card debt from 2000.  They were unable to provide me with a statement.  Told me it would be provided with suit papers.

This company called me and stated that I had fraudulent activity associated to my name and social security number they told me that they had two sopenia's for me and they wanted to try to settle this matter out of court..

pretty much the same as everybody else as far as the phone call goes however they are calling for my sister and she has been dead for 7 years.

So please follow up .. Did they do anything about it.? They are calling my 80 year old dad with the same threats

Follow the steps in what you need to know. A legitimate debt collector agency should not have a problem with giving you a real business name and address you can google and verify via google street view, BBB etc.

If you were being sued, you wouldn't have a "subpoena" - which is used to compel the testimony of a witness or produce evidence.  The only "fraudulent activity" is on the part of your callers - they're scammers.

Wow, what a relief to know  I'm not alone in this B.S.  Until my attorney provided me with this information I thought it was legit, Capital One debt.  They are also using another phone number; 855-861-2259.  Best  wishes to you all and thaks for sharing your potential nightmares.  I hope they get those wicked a-- scammers.
