I didn't answer, they left no voicemail. But I've been having a flood of telemarketing calls here lately and I am assuming this is one as well. Especially with the 555 digits.

I got a call from this number saying that my e-mail address got hacked, and my personal information was being used for fraud and they were informing me of the problem and that they had the solution. They said, you computer is on right now, and I said I was actually out of the house and my computer was shut down, so the guy just said: okay then i have to get in touch with you later, and hung up.

The thing is what I did have was obviously my phone and from like an hour before that call, my phone was acting up really really bad....

I think they are the hackers....

They keep calling me telling me that many people get errors trying to connect to the internet or email accounts, so they asked me to go to a website: "www.support.me", and I had to type in a special code, and then I was asked to to download a program from another website, (I can't remember the website). To make a long story short, the next day I got rid of the program they installed. To help trace the calls, I have some phone numbers they used:  (714)555-0155, (336)555-0121, (212)662-1932, (504)555-0136, (757)555-0159. Please do not accept calls from them. Report immediately to your local law enforcement Bureau, or the Federal Communications Commission. Thanks.

Since the scammers accessed the computer, they probably did one or more of the following:
    • Disabled the anti-virus software
    • Added nasty malware to the computer
    • Copied the Contact List (so they can spam/email your soon-to-be ex-friends)
    • Copied any financial data or passwords they could find
    • Compromised your ID
    • "Zombied" the computer, so it would respond to THEIR commands sent via internet
    • Deleted some important files
    • Asked for money to repair the damage they caused

What can you do immediately after such an attack?
    1.  Pull the cables on the computer, or otherwise disable it, so it cannot access the internet.
    2.  Change ALL  passwords stored on the computer
    3.  Run FULL malware scans on the computer, in "SAFE" mode!
    4.  Change the passwords again, particularly if the malware scans showed anything
    5.  Inform your bank and credit card companies
    6.  Sign up for credit monitoring, and check the status frequently
    7.  You may have to bring the computer to a local repair shop, and tell them the story.
    8.  Tell friends what happened, so they can be aware of strange emails from you
    9.  Plug in the cables only AFTER all the above have been done
    10.  Change the passwords on all online accounts.  Even better - access a "safe", uninfected  computer, and chance your online account passwords RIGHT NOW.

Honest computer companies do NOT cold-call people, or cause popups from websites to tell them their computers need fixing!

Judging by the comments this was obviously a garbage robocall, or a scam. I don't ever answer these calls and never will, trash is all they are or ever will be.
