- delaware| 1 replycaller stated ... filled out a contest form, caller stated I and a friend have won a free trip/vaction, needed to speak w/me for information, will try and contact me later around 8pm.
- TooManyKidsToTravelNowGot a call from 757-874-6402. Said I was the winner of a drawing for a vacation to Williamsburg, and that I had submitted my info at a local community festival. (This was true, since I had entered a form.) I was skeptical, but agreed to have them call me back when they could speak to my wife and me at the same time. They called back and my wife was unavailable, so I asked a few questions, which the caller reluctantly answered, but insisted she does not know as much as the travel planner who would only talk to my wife and I at the same time. Anyway, she said that they were promoting a time-share in Williamsburg and wanted me to commit to coming for a 90-minute tour, at which time I would get my $75 back (which I would have to first pay over the phone, "just to make sure we showed up"), plus an extra $100, then a free stay at the Williamsburg Plantation Resort. I would then be able to choose between a stay in Orlando or a Bahamas cruise for free. It actually sounded legitimate, since I know time-share places give you free stuff sometimes if you take time to check it out. However, I hadn't planned or budgeted traveling to Williamsburg, even if I could stay for free, and I enjoy staying at home with my wife and 2 very young kids, so I declined.

- Bobby| 6 repliesI received a couple of calls and voicemails on my cell phone from these people. But they were looking for a Mrs. Jones. Next time I get a call from them I am going to call them back and tell them to place me on their Do Not Call list. This is nothing more than unsolicited telemarketing. They said they were with the Massanetta Springs Conference center or something like that. I looked it up and it was in Harrsiburg, VA, but the call came from a VA Beach area number, so I know it is a call center making these calls.

- MikeGot a call after my wife entered into a contest at a Chinese Restaurant. She stalled on the phone while I looked them up on the Better Business Bureau website. They're actually a member in good standing, out to just sell timeshares. I could use a vacation, and talked them into letting us stay the weekend of the presentation to avoid the extra trip. I'll try to post back to let everyone know how it went.

- DUKECLSOF84| 3 repliesA friend of mine actually workED for the Williamsburg Plantation Resort. He took a job with them working as an assistant to one of their travel coordinators. After reading the above reviews and criticisms I felt obligated to tell everyone exactly what I know through him:
1.) They are a timeshare business.
2.) They do have call centers.
3.) They are registered with the Better Business Bureau. They are also in good standing.
4.) The company advertises strictly through word of mouth. They, as well as many other timeshare businesses, find it more efficient to advertise through word of mouth (i.e. individuals coming to the resort to hear about it assuming that they will inevitably leave to tell friends about what they saw.)
5.) The resort really is rather magnificent. I've seen it myself. Google image it.
6.) My buddy was always telling me how difficult his job was, primarily because people always felt it was too good to be true. According to him it was simply because people didnt understand the process and goals of the company. People come to the resort. Some tour the resort and leave. Some tour the resort and later purchase a timeshare. Either way, they often put their friends on the resort's VIP list to invite them down for a complementary stay. The catch??? Well there really isn't one. It's a win win situation. You come down for their 90 minute tour of the resort (their win). And they pay for you to stay for a couple of days in williamsburg (your win). He told me that the most difficult part however was convincing people that the $75 deposit they require to hold the room and tour time slot really is legit. I suppose all of us are naturally skeptical. But if you do get this opportunity, and you are capable of taking advantage, do it. So what if you have to take 90 minutes out of one day? I always tried to convince him hook me up with it, but he always told me is was strictly for VIP's. - Mertz| 6 repliesthis is a scam and do not fall for it. If something is too good to be true.....thats because it is.....too good to be true!

- *** replies to Mertz| 2 repliesits not a scam and if you were to read the back of the entry forms that you fill out then you would understand that
- Julie| 7 repliesThey called twice and did not leave a message. I googled the area code and it said VA. So I googled the number just to see if anything would come up. I saw all of this.
I filled out some entry forms at a ski-expo back a few weeks ago...but the winning vacations were all out west/New England, or ski resort towns...not Virginia.
Too bad that there are scammers out there like this that have nothing else to do with their time. - Ross| 1 replyThese peopele called me after 10 pm nad when I told them off they kept calling back and hanging up.
- Jim| 2 repliesGot the phone call saying they had gotten my info from some place I knew I had not visited. Gave me an address that I was supposed to have submitted that wasn't even close to my real address. They then hung up.

- beverly| 1 replyreceived call 2 times without answering this evening then looked this number up to see it was a scam/telemarketeer and I AM on a DO NOT CALL list!!
- J. E.I have received a number of calls from them over the past few months. One call left a LONG message which, as other posters note, _sounded_ like a huge scam (I acknowledge that it possibly isn't, but it sounded like one). Tonight I picked up, and the fellow greeted me with my full legal name, and then talked about some form that I filled out at a McDonald's. I promptly informed him that I do not go to McDonald's (I haven't even BEEN in one for some years now), therefore someone was using my information without permission and hung up.
