This another new number for Portfolio Recovery, I guess everyone has all their other ones blocked. They are trying to collect an 8 year old debt... way out of the statute of limitations.

new number for us, I keep a list, this debt is my ex-husbands, is about 20 years old, and they don't have my ssn, so I know I'm not responsible for it.  I saw the link for the complaint, but coudln't determine the proper category.

Believe it or not, there is nothing that stops a collection agency from generally ATTEMPTING to collect on a debt.

However, laws on collection activities and statues of limitations vary from state to state.  Check with your state's regulators on how this may apply in individual cases.

They called again, so I filled out the forms again and will continue until they finally get it through their thick skulls the debt is from 8 years ago and they are not getting a dime. They are idiots!

evry night get a call from them. I do not answer if they do not leave a message. After extensive research state of Mississippi statute of limitations is 3 years so I will seek action against them shortly. I hope the lawmakers take me seriously.

FUNNY!!!! I'm also the victim of getting atleast 3-5 calls per day most days, they now have my home & cell #!!!
If not sueing them for an old debt, I WILL SUE THEM FOR 'HARRASSMENT'!!
Another Funny thing... This debt dates back to the 90's, coincidentally it was on a c/c that only had a $9,000. limit, they're trying their damndest to collect almost $24,000. from me!!!

Trying to collect on a 7 year old debt, I don't think so! They must be fed a bunch of BS by their cheerleader... umm, I mean boss, for them to actually think they are going to get something. LOL

We have AT&T's Privacy Manager which blocks unidentified calls. This number calls us several times a week in California. We don't use our landline, only have it for the DSL service so the call goes to an answering machine. They don't leave a message but we get lots of calls from different debt collectors asking for various people with latino last names. We aren't latinos and don't know the people they ask for.

I get this number on my caller id as well. Twice today. For the people that talk about suing them you have to tell them not to call you first or you won't win.  The best way to do that is a letter sent certified mail so they can't deny receiving it they have to sign for it or record the phone call if it's legal in your state.  No matter what the statute of limitations is they can try to collect they just can't successfully sue you over it if you show up at court and can prove the statute of limitations has expired.  I just let them call and don't answer.  I could care less.  I hope they waste a lot of money calling me and sending me letters.  I'll never pay them anything.  If the statute of limitations has expired these companies aren't likely to try to sue you because they know the only they'll win is if you don't show up.  They just try to scare people into paying.  Or they might file a suit and if you respond to it they'll drop the case.  I've had that happen to me.

Every day I'm getting calls from this virginia number. I tell them the person they're asking for doesn't live here. They keep asking do I know him or is there a number that he could be reached at. Wtf...?! What part of he doesn't live here don't they understand...?!

they call me all the time but can't tell me what card the debt is from but they can tell me that is is from '97..... are they for real

i get a call from 1-757-961-3545 about once a week sometimes another number but same company asking for my son and asking who i am and than they say they will call back and business matter that all they will tell you

If they keep harrassing you find a consumer debt collection lawyer.
They will sometimes pay for everything and depending on your claim and state may get you a little money.  Worth the effort!!!!
