Monday, April 06, 2009, at 10:28 AM, I received a call from 757-961-3546 on my cell phone which only rang a few seconds...not enough time to even answer the call. However, I do not answer any out of area calls since 99% of these calls will be "scam artist" trying to con and bilk you in this bad economy at a time when all thieves thrive like termites below your house. The last calls from this area code with number 757-321-6281, were March 17 and March 20, 2009. The only answer for anyone getting these or any other out of area calls that you don't recognize is to never answer them...and, never, never, ever, return the call with curiosity as to learn who it is calling as this will only "inflame" the situation by encouraging these scam artist to know you are a "live fish" ready for them to continue their fishing scam with you. Just record the number on your cell but never answer or return any call. If these calls are "bonafide" with the slightest of good intentions, then they would leave a message.

RCVD call in Illinois from this same number today-- did not answer, nor they did not leave any msgs.

I will not call them back.

Received a call from (757) 961-3546 on April 6th. Did not answer the call and they did not leave a message. It's very "suspect" to get calls from a place where I know no one and they don't even have the decency to leave a message.

This call number is one of a multitude of Portfolio Recovery numbers. The company is located in Norfolk, Va. They are a scab collection agency trying to collect from old debts that are past the statute of limitations. Never answer their calls.

I hope this helps.  757-961-3546 is a collection agency.  Portfolio Recovery Services Or Portfolio Recovery Associates.  They're annoying telephone calls occur frequently, and it doesn't matter if it is Sunday or just past reasonable hours.  Have been receiving calls from this number and others, belonging to Portfolio Recovery Associates, sometimes as many as two or three per day for several weeks now. It's a collection agency based in VA. I don't owe anyone anything. As others have stated, they will call asking you to call them back. I have never called them back. You can file a complaint with the FTC, (Federal Trade Commission) The FTC will take your call, as there is a case file already started on them. They need several complaints to take any action, as they will not act on individual complaints. The number to the FTC is: 1-877-3824357. Complaining about this will not get them to stop, but getting a government agency involved just may get the job done.  You can also go online at https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/ if you prefer.  You can also get your telephone number on the NATIONAL DO NOT CALL list.You can register online at WWW.DONOTCALL.GOV or call toll-free, 1-888-382-1222 (TTY 1-866-290-4236), from the number you wish to register. Registration is free, it takes 31 days before you can file a complaint if you continue to receive such calls, but your registration will not expire. For more information you can read about it on the website too.  You can also try calling PRS/PRA back via Skype at one of their toll free numbers, 1-877-803-0008!  It comes up on their caller ID as some random number in Europe.  Call them frequently when you get a minute and take up their time and run up their telephone bills.  It could be great fun to give them a taste pf their own medicine.

I got the same things with the same number with no one on the line when I did answer. It's not the first and I'm sure it won't be the last one either. This one called my home line which is in SC.

these j/offs call using different extensions all the time....so..everytime they call, I block that number.  Too bad none of them have the balls to leave a message.

Received a tc from this number five minutes ago and noticed "Norfolk, VA" came up on the display but no other information.  As I know no one in Norfolk, I typed in the number and came up with everyone's comments regarding Portfolio Recovery.  Thank you!!!  I can vouch that these people are definite scam artists.  They had called me in the past as even called my place of employment.  I had asked them to stop calling both at home and at work but it continued and they actually threatened me with my job (I was working in the legal department of a large corporation that handled "telemarketing" and it put me in a very precarious situation).  I almost lost my job.  I had long ago done a full payment and payoff arrangement on an old credit card (note:  it was paid off) but the company MBNA sold it and never cleared their books.  So, I paid the money just so I wouldn't lose my job.  It totally cleared my credit report however I recently noticed these cockroaches have returned trying to say I owe money.  DO NOT ANSWER THEIR CALLS.  I am reporting them to the FTC as well.

Repeatedly call ALL DAY LONG both work and home numbers.

Rec'd calls constantly from this credit collection agency.  I do not pick up the phone at all, they call around 9:30AM in the monring and again in the evening hoping to catch me.  Since they are not allowed to call me at the office, I don't answer at all.  I REALLY want to give them a piece of my mind but then they will know that they have my work number.  I called from work about 6 months ago to speak to a REP, she was gone so I left a voicemail for her.  BAD call on my part.  They are EXTREMELY ANNOYING, and I don;t even talk to them!

This number keeps calling my law firm.
