- kcNumber called several times (4-5x a day) over a week long period. Never left a message and called either really early in the morning. . .or late in the evening.
- mk| 4 repliesPortfolio Recovery Associates: Bottom feeder, junk debt buyer, they buy up old debts that have been long charged off for pennies on the dollar - debts that are well beyond the statute of limitations for being able to sue, some are even so old that they aren't even on your credit report anymore. They are computer generated calls from a variety of numbers from numerous states, and they have no conscience. They aren't the lowest in the scum bucket...but they are very close! They know how to skate around that fine line of the FDCPA.
- Char replies to mkThey call my phone number several times a week, this number is used only for robo calls. I never give out my new number. They are bottom feeders!
- HotMama replies to krissy| 13 repliesThis is a forum for people to let other people know who has called. The companies that are calling do not look at this so it does no good to tell them to stop calling in here.
- ken replies to mk| 2 repliesYou are so correct. I had a dealing with them a couple years ago on an alleged debt (I did not owe) going back to 1998. I finally sent them a cease and desist certified/w signature. In the same letter I requested total validation of the alleged debt from the Original owner of the debt, a copy of signed contract, their right to claim and collect, and the whole nine yards including a record of all payments made and/or activity including the last and final. I also informed them that even if the alleged debt were mine, it would be time barred in my state under the Statute of limitations. They sent me a single sheet of paper that was nothing more than a Bill from them, with a threat that the clock was running on interest. I then returned a certified/w signature letter disputing the Alleged Original debt and their right to claim and collect. Never heard from them again. I kept an eye on my credit reports and no 1099 was sent.
The amount of the alleged debt was $400 and some change. I have the highest disdain and disgust for this low life company of bottom feeders. - DonnaThey call me at least twice a day, never leave a message. I never answer and never will. They can pound sand as far as I am concerned. Don't owe anything, won't pay anything. Nothing they can do or will do. They are bottom feeders trying to intimidate people into paying them. Don't! If it is a credit card, there is nothing they can do, but put it against you on your credit report. After 7 years, it drops off totally. 10 years if you have a judgement. You pay now, it starts the clock all over again.

- Veronica| 5 repliesI wish I'd read these comments before I made the mistake of answering their phone call. They talked to me like I was garbage. It was over a debt from 2007 last pymt received was 2009. I was told it was handled and obviously wasnt. The threats and harsh language was disheartening. I have a few unpaid debts I was stuck with after divorce and as a single mom groceries and gas are far more crucial than an old credit card (small) balance. unfortunately. Where can I find information for the statues you all refer too? I'm in Florida
- Caller: Portfolio Recovery
- Call type: Debt collector
- John replies to VeronicaNice thing about most debt collectors that treat people like that, is that they rarely sue. Being rude and hostile is their only tool to get you to pay. On the other hand. The debt collector who is professional and will not harass you, are the ones to be concerned about. Google 'statue of limitations florida' and at the top of the results page, you will see a state Government site with that information.
