- sickandtired replies to EricaI received a call from a middle eastern accented man today on my job and I told him I wasn't there and he said he was with Baker and McKenzie and associates. Left a message for him to call me back! I am going to call him back when I get home and tell hime that this phone number is in the FBI data base and they told me to call him back! They are really going crazy now because they think that they can get tax mey. They call a lot when they think the funds are plentiful! But when you say FBI, they run like the rats they are!!!

- Carey| 1 replyI received many phone calls starting yesterday from this number to my cell phone and workplace claiming they were from Baker and McKenzie law firm. They said they were investigating a payday loan in which I owe money and that if I didn't pay a minimum of $300 a warrant would be put out for my arrest. I asked the secretary at my work if anything like this has ever happened and she said I should not give any money and this was certainly not normal. My boss also said that no arrest can ever be made for a debt especially since I don't have one and to call the police. They also called my work back and we threatened to call the police and then they threatened to report her (to whom I don't know). I still received about 3 calls on my cell after this matter. They tried to get me to go to CVS pharmacy and use a greendot money fax voucher. I was received an address of 46695 Desert Villa 3, Indio, CA 92201, which seems to be an apartment complex. The man was pushy with an Indian accent and would snap at me when I asked for specific details. Additionally, they left no voice mails. Baker and McKenzie, I want you to know that Im calling the police and reporting to Better Business Bureau!

- Mike in MD replies to CareyYou should also report them to the FTC via their report fraud page on their website. At the very least the caller is in violation of Federal law (FDCPA) as a debt collector but more likely is a running a scam that the FTC has warnings about. Google "Payday Loan Scams" for more information.
