Some guy with a very cheesy accent left a message saying that I need to call back immediately but didn't say for what. Just said it was very important and I need an attorney. He also said I would be stupid if I didn't call back. He didn't say what company he was from but he left his name...John Smith.

Sorry...I forgot to mention that he called from a restricted number but said to call the (760) number that he left on my voicemail.

I want to report this caller from calling my phone, stating that I must pay a bill or will have a court order. His name was Bob Pham.

Received a call from this number threatening litigation stated name was Mark Adams has an accent told me to call back or my attorney....pending litigation but doesn't say where he is from or anything...I have no outstanding debt with this man...what do I do??

Don't worry about this just ignore it.  It's 100% a scam.  They probubly got your phone number when you applied for a loan or some type of credit card.  They probubly also know the last four of your ssn, they think they can really lure you in by telling you that, but don't fall for it.  My advice is that when you receive a call from them again(if you have caller id that is), answer your phone and say "hello, this is burger king, how can i help you" or something crazy like that.  They will not call again if you do that a few times.  I actually talked to the guy and asked him why I hadn't received any legal documents via fedex or certified mail like you would in a real situation.  After pausing for a few moments, it was clear he was reading his notes and flustered, so I just started messing with him more.  Kinda fun, just don't let these jerks upset you, it's not worth it.

I received a message at work. The number came through at 813-371-8361. Said I have 3 criminal lawsuits against me. The caller said his name was John Smith. When I tried to call the local number back, it did not ring through. But his voicemail said to call him back at 760-262-0990.

I have started receiving calls from (760)262-0990 stating that it is very time sensitive that I call them or risk my life coming to an end as I know it.  He has a strong middle east accent and says his name is Alan Scott.  My caller ID read 0000.

Thank you so much for this post, I got a phone call at work, on my cell and at my mothers house yestersay from these people. John Smith with the heavy indian accent, yes they are very rude to females and exceptioanlly difficult to understand. They told me I committed fraud, stole money and the like then told me to stop acting like I had no idea what they were talking about. I was so upset, it literally made me sick. I told my husband about it and he said it sounded fake so I googled the number and thank goodness I did. When you dial the 760-262-0990 number it does not ring through to anyone, it switches to a diferent line but never picks up. It is scary since they have all of my information but they do trip up if you ask the right questions. One of the biggest ones I liked was they couldn't supply me the information of the company who hired them to bring this law suit against me?! WHAT?! this just happened to me the same number 760-262-0990 and 916-395-0000 has called me over 30 times today. At first i thought they were serious and i was going to pay them just to get them to leave me alone but when they couldn't give me the address of the company, the company name, or anything else i asked for i felt it was fishy and googled the phone numbers. Thank God for google right! Anyways i had  my attorney friend call Sam Wilson, the person that has been calling me all day, he got so pissed. He refused to answer any questions my lawyer asked then hung up the phone. So she had me call them back and ask them some questions. They told me a lawsuit was filed against me at the LA court house. I called a courthouse in LA to see if i had any lawsuits pending against me and they didn't find anything! People beware of  these scam artists.

hey thanks for the info, yah i was kind of worried when they knew my last four digits of my ss#, so i signed up at lifelock, best investment i ever made, they call harrassing you and saying there gonna get a lawsuit or send the police lol, i was like hurry up because i had to go to the strip club lol, yah i get the 0000 phone number which means its overseas, i got really stressed out because i didnt know who these [***] were, your right also dont let some dumb jerk indian guy try to frighten you with any non sense. thanks for the post.

I to have been called several times from this number stating that they had all my information and that they had a lawsuit against me in California for an unpaid loan. When I started to ask questions the lady hung up on me and wouldnt give me any information about the company or who had hired them to collect the debt. IT IS A SCAM !!! BEWARE. The lady I spoke to said her name was Angela Anderson Attorny at Law.

I just received a call from a guy about an hour ago. As soon as I heard the message I thought it was some sort of scam. But when I listened a second time the caller, Steven Nixon, also with a cheesy accent, told me that I, or my attorney, must call him back the "very second I receive this message, as it is an extremely time sensitive issue." He ordered me not to ignore the call and stated that if I did ignore it he wishes me luck in the fate that awaits me. Which in all actuality startled me a bit. When I tried to call the 760-262-0990 number I got a recoding telling me all International circuits were busy at this time & to try again later. The number that appeared on my phone when the call came through was 916-395-0000. I instantly googled the number and was surprised to see my suspicions were confirmed by this post. This is insane. How do people get away with this?

I got that same call today at my job saying that I have 3 lawsuits filed against. And that I needed to a attorney. And he said that I owed 596.10 or something like he claim to have paperwork for a loan. That I did.

This number called me today at my job and had me upset. Everything that everyone is saying has happened to me. I advice everyone to be alert for this number.

These people really have some nerve but the truth is they scam trusting people to just pay and ask no questions. I knew I owed nothing and it still got my stomach in knots. The number that called me was located in CA so i reported it to my local police dept and they contacted the one in california. If every one speaks up i think they can be caught.

My dad and I have both received call from thid guy.  He has my SSN number, cell number, Dad's number and is threatening me with legal action.    What am I suppose to do????  I'm scared.  This is the exact number and the guy is of foreign nature, Iraq, Iran, etc.  I'm all away across the country.

Same here my granddaughter is absolutely freaking out.  We live across on the other side of the US.  I think they have her SSN and credit all messed up with forgent activies.  How can we report to FBI or something, how about Home Land Security?

I got the same phone call at work and at home.  At home the message was left on my machine, I have vonage so the message got transcribed.  760 - from Steven Nixon.  I was also told that i would be sorry if i didn't retain a lawyer.  He also called my work place and left a message for me.  These people must be sick to do things like this.  I also got scared at first but then I thought that I should google the number and the name.  I am so glad that i got this site.  These people need to be locked up for doing this to people
