    This number is associated with Ronnie Cooper, also calls himself Rick Johnson, part of a scam with the following #'s 818-337-3036, and 714-786-4141.
    Do not pay them a dime.

    The message says you need to call Ronnie Cooper at this number and then you get this guy who calls himself Max Gimble with an East Indian accent.  Total scam artist, threatens the sheriff's arrival if you don't cough up for the cash advance you didn't pay back and there is no basis for the claim whatsoever.

    The caller said he was calling from a Law Firm called: the Federal Legislation (Registration?) of Cutomer Affairs and Business and said he had already given me the name "Ronny Cooper" to call back as he is handling my case.  He kept saying I had to wait and see what was going to happen in the morning and would not give me any more information.  When I called back, Ronny Cooper answered and I advised him that I had already spoken to Max Gimble and he said, "No, it's Max Gamble--you know, like gambling."  When I told him I had turned him into the FBI's Internet Fraud Department he said, "Oh, no, don't do that to me" and then said "God Bless You!"  He called on my work phone number so I have a record of the number and time called--just wish we had a recorder, too!

    Telephone Collection Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

    12/01/2010—The IC3 receives a high volume of complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. In these scams, a caller claims that the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check cashing services.
    One of the most insidious aspects of this scam is that the callers have accurate information about the victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. The method by which the fraudsters obtained the personal information is unclear, but victims often relay that they had completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls began.
    The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim’s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide to the victims any details of the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers threaten victims with legal actions, arrests, and in some cases physical violence if they refuse to pay. In many cases, the callers even resort to harassment of the victim’s relatives, friends, and employers.
    Some fraudsters instruct victims to fax a statement agreeing to pay a certain dollar amount, on a specific date, via prepaid visa card. The statement further declares that the victim would never dispute the debt.
    These telephone calls are an attempt to obtain payment by instilling fear in the victims. Do not follow the instructions of the caller.
    If you receive telephone calls such as these, you should:

    Contact your banking institutions;
    Contact the three major credit bureaus and request an alert be put on your file;
    Contact your local law enforcement agencies if you feel you are in immediate danger;
    File a complaint at www.IC3.gov.

    I just received a call from this number at 6:57 AM. I called back and let them know this is completely illegal and I was not the person they are calling for. They told me not to use bad language...what do you expect when you wake someone up? I threatened to sue if they ever call me again. He told me not to worry about it, but never asked for my number. Does anyone really know anything about this "company"? I want to take legal action for receiving a call at this hour from a "company" that should not be calling anyone before 8:00am.
    We shall see if they call again.

He wound up hanging up on me. I haven't heard back but I'm so angry over it I wanna call back and cuss him out.

    This clown just called my home too! I never even accepted a payday loan from anyone. Once I reviewed the terms I decided we didn't need the money that bad. So whether you took out a payday loan and didn't pay it back or not this outfit has nothing to do with it! They are simply looking to steal your money.

    Partner they aren't a legitimate debt collector they simply harvested your number from a payday loan internet site you visited. They are simply attempting to scam you! Personally I told the caller to go suck d--- at least they'd earn the money instead of stealing it!

    I can also confirm the above mentioned post. A "Attorney John Anderson" called my spouse's phone at about 0657 on 07 April and left a voice mail stating that the situation at hand was time sensitive and that if he did not hear back from my spouse or his Attorney soon, that he would persue action against him and wished him good luck. He left the phone number 760-269-4173. I had no clue as to what it was about and had a a pretty good idea that it was a scam. I googled the name and got multiple returns. So to narrow the search, I added the callback number and found this sight. I don't know about some of you but I have deployed to several middle eastern countries and I know the improper grammer and accent when I hear it. I would hope that no one has actually fallen for this crap. I intend to follow this to the fullest extent and do my part to ensure that these scam artists get caught.
