A call from Jonathan saying he was from the dept. of legal affairs--an obvious scam.

Man called claming to be from the dept of legal affairs in California. Clearly a scam.

Got a call from a man calling himself Carlos from dept of legal affairs obviously a scam. Don't fall for it.

Alex Right ( Sp?) left message that he was calling from Dept of Legal Affairs about a debt. Spoke with an Indian accent.

Guy identified self as Frank (something). Had a heavy accent.  Said he was from dept of legal affairs, but didn't say from what entity that department belonged to (ie company, state, city etc).  Said he needed to talk about a claim that is being lodged against me.  Obvious scam.  I did get a kick out of it, though.

My call was obviously a scam, but to make it--sadly--more true they asked after a name they shouldn't have.  The person that called, a man, with a very thick Indian accent--like everyone above has said--was part of the "Department of Legal Affairs".  Almost as though it was some form of a government agency I should know about...  But, the name he used--who was a person in my family--that they owed a debt of some kind, has been dead for quite some time.  So pretty obvious that they're not exactly "on their game" here.  I too can hear what sounds like quite a large room with numerous phone calls going on at the same time.  Lastly, when he left the message for us--two times--he ends it by saying, "...have a Blessed Day.".  Basically giving everything away by the end; a very idiotic attempt to scam people en masse...

By the way, if you're wondering what there goal is; they'll leave a message with you and tell you that you need to call the number listed above (760.565.9531).  If you call that number you'll end up getting charged a huge amount of money for using that line, much like various tip lines in the U.S., adult lines, and help lines.  So for anyone interested in knowing the most likely way they are trying to scam you, this is it (although if they actually DO talk to you, they will try to pry money from you, just by making up a very stupid story).
