We received a message from someone claiming to be Allen Clark from Legal Services.  He said to call 760-790-4135 regarding a tax matter.  When my husband called the number, his "associate" confirmed our home number and then informed my husband that a warrant is now being issued for his arrest because his taxes were filed incorrectly.

we received the same call from an Adam Roger.  From Legal Affairs.  Its a scam.  He called our friend 3 months ago but he had a different name.  Tom Jefferson with a strong foreign accent.  If you were in trouble with the law, they would never end the call "have a blessed day"  and "God Bless you" .  Please do not fall for this scam.  And the IRS would not leave a message like that or even call.  The IRS offered these tips and says that they will never:

    Call to demand immediate payment, nor will the agency call about taxes owed without first having mailed you a bill;
    Demand that you pay taxes without giving you the opportunity to question or appeal the amount they say you owe;
    Require you to use a specific payment method for your taxes, such as a prepaid debit card;
    Ask for credit or debit card numbers over the phone; or
    Threaten to bring in local police or other law-enforcement groups to have you arrested for not paying

I got a message from this number and it was a threatening me with legal action.   Ended the message with "God Bless You."   What a lame scam.     we have received this call several times.

This is a crank call. When I asked him what his agent number was he said 24213. When I asked him about the case number he got hostile and got profane. I told him to stop bothering my pregnant wife or I'd have him arrested.

I received a call from this number with a man claiming to be Shawn Anderson with Dept. of US Treasury. He asked if I received a letter from them explaining the call, I hadn't. He ten told me I needed to call 760-790-4135, the number he called from, and ask for John Matthew. If he is calling from the same number why couldn't he transfer me?? He never really did explain the reason of the call, just briefly stating that there was an issue with my name. He had a very strong accent and the call came out of Brawley, CA. I reported it to authorities.

I just got the same call. Wanted me to call John Matthews at the same number he called me from. Could not transfer me because he wasnt allowed.

A man with a heavy foreign accent called claiming it was an emergency for myself. He refused to identify himself, where he was calling from, or give any further information. He said I was to contact Ryan Kohlman with Dept. of US Treasury at 760-790-4135. My caller ID had that number on it with "Brawely, CA" above it. Very odd business, especially on top of an earlier harassing caller from an UNKNOWN NO. claiming to be from MS Tech Support and threatening all sorts of dire consequence if I did not do exactly what he wanted to do with my computer. So much for that pathetic "Do not call list."

This is too funny!  I just got this same message and thought to myself "self this is really strange that a person with such a strong foreign accent is calling from the "Dept of Legal Affairs" threatening me with litigation."  So I googled the number because I thought this had to be a hoax and guess what, IT IS!  Can you say ERASE on the answering machine!

Where are they getting our #'s from? Just a random drawing. Called me as well, when I told him I needed to speak to someone who spoke better english he said "Jesus Christ, what accent? Are you from another planet? I don't have any accent, I have spoken to 25 other people today who have understood me fine" ~ I just pray to Jesus those are not the 25 people who fell for the scam. I have to admit, I was scared. Imagine if I was elderly and / or confused! Sad.

The calls originated in Indian and Pakistan, they spoof local call numbers.

I just received a call  from a man claiming to be Shawn Anderson & all the same requests, as you received.  I had a suspicion that it was a scam, in fact I asked him if this is a scam call and said you will find out if it is or not when you get a warrant to appear in court.

I had the same call.  Jerks.

Same here, all the above, more than twice already, but this time his name was "Andy Parker".
With his heavy accent I told him "Andy Parker my ASS", and he hung up immediately.
Try it next time.

got this call just now from "aaron rodgers" from Legal affairs threatening my daughter with legal action...when I called him on this BS and told him I was aware this was a scam he was very rude and claimed I was interupting him on a recorded line...then he hung up.  I tried the phone number he left and it would not go thru .  So much for the do not call list.

I just got a call from this number from a man who had a foreign accent.  He said he was from legal affairs US Department of Justice.  I told him the IRS never calls on the phone.  I told him this was a scam.  He said see you in court and hung up.  I called the number back from my house phone and it did not go through.  I called from my cell and to my surprise he answered with the tag US Department of Justice Inspector Ryan Coleman.  I said some called from this number, he ask for my home phone number and verified my name and said I was in a lot of trouble for not paying my taxes.  I said there has never been a problem.  He then said, "do you file your taxes every year"?  I said yes.  He hung up.  I tried to call back to give him a piece of my mind and the number was immediately disconnected with a message from Verizon.

I just called the same number back since they left a threatening message on my answering machine. I knew it was probably a scam since they left the message for me using my maiden name which isn't on file anymore except on my phone bill and in the white pages. Curiosity got the best of me and I called them back and asked for Andy Parker. His associate insisted Andy had given him permission to discuss the matter with me. I asked his name and it was Jonathon Davis. He went on to explain about my back taxes, law enforcement, legal mess, and then I laughed. When he asked me why I was laughing I explained that I hadn't used that name in 15 years and I had never received anythin........He hung up. I tried to call him back but he won't answer. I might keep trying....... I needed a good laugh today.

Got message about legal problems.  Heavy accent.  Scam all the way.

I received the same call only he claimed to be Alex Brown. He also told me I was charged with tax evasion for 2010 and had a warrant out for my arrest unless I took care of the debt today! The ankh god I didn't give him any personal information!!! The more I argued with him the more he became violent with me! He was so rude he had me in tears!! This man is very convincing and definitely knows what he is doing!!
Sad to think we have to worry about violators like this! Please be careful!
