Wrong.
DNC working.
Your brain not working!
The DNC list does not automatically block calls. Instead, it provides a list of "do not call" phone numbers to legitimate telemarketers who pay a fee for the list.
The DNC list exempts political callers, survey organizations, charities, companies with preexisting business relationships, and some other organizations (such as debt collectors), but these organizations might have their own, internal Do Not Call list (ask them).
The DNC list is not effective against criminals, spammers and scammers, because those people do not subscribe to the DNC list, and do not care if you are on or off that list.
It can stop calls from legitimate telemarketers, and it does a pretty good job at that.

Modern technology has given telescammers the tools to call you.
Since those telescammers are criminals, they ignore both the Do Not Call list and any request you might make.
Modern technology can also protect you, if YOU do a few simple things!
The first thing to do is buy a call blocker device, service or app.
Then, use it correctly.
Google "call blocker" for more information.
If you cannot afford or use such a tool, then:
* Do not answer calls from unknown numbers ... let them go to voicemail or answering service
* Do NOT return calls from unknown numbers! All that does is verify your phone number! And, in some cases, those return calls may cost $20 or more to complete.
* If you have a "dumb" cell phone, assign the scammer's number to a group named "scam" (or similar). Then, assign a silent ringtone to that group. - anoncredit scam.
- TomzeeThese guys have several phone numbers from across the country. I have had the same message from numbers from the west coast as well as east coast and the Midwest. Just don't answer the phone, maybe they will run out of numbers.
- Caller: Credit card outfit
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Phone FatigueWell good old Rachel from CREDIT CARD SERVICES just called from JONESBORO, GA. Said this was my FINAL NOTICE (that is what she told me yesterday too) regarding the federal stimulus package, etc. It is impossible to take a nap when we are not feeling well because of jerks like this. I am so VERY TIRED of these scammers and their calls.
- Caller: SCAMMER RACHEL
- KimI never answer these. I use *78 to block telemarketers. It's free. No numbers to enter. No number limit. They call. It's rings once or twice then hangs up on them. Doesn't let them leave a message. I feel so much better. Talk to the machine. When I am qurrn I will have these crooks stoned to death publicly.
- Caller: Credit Card Scam
- Call type: Telemarketer

- LarryDid Not Answer. Just came up as Jonesboro, Ga. Also on Do Not Call List!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Maria PThese folks have blown up my phone this week, I knew the quiet was temporary. I didn't recognize caller so no contact is made whether person or answering machine this is best option under the circumstances, they will continue to call from other #'s. (sigh)
- Caller: Jonesboro GA
- LynnThese people call repeatedly. I have been put on hold and told them TWICE now. They answer by asking whether I have credit card debt. I immediately tell them to stop calling me as I am on the DO NOT CALL list. They hang up. SCAM SCAM SCAM. Put the number on your Do Not Call List
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Jennifer R.This outfit calls from several numbers, re: "your credit card". I don't ever call them back. They sometimes call several days a week...usually when I am sleeping..after a night shift! They seem to go on to a different number when one gets blocked. Filing complaints with a few agencies...maybe one will work!!
- LeslieThis week has been the worst for these calls. I have gotten 6 today alone, from 6 different numbers. I never answer these calls, I never call them back. It seems blocking the number is letting them know it is a legitimate phone number, because it is getting worse. I wish I knew how to complain to get these calls to stop. These lists don't seem to be doing anything either.
- Caller: Credit card scam
- Maria AndersonI keep getting these calls telling me it is my last chance. Several time I have waited and told them to take the number they are calling off their list, because it is a business phone.............. who do I contact about this to have it stop?
