Then says he is not trying to give me anything but is interested in me as a person and wants to be my friend. Calls back after being told that I'm not interested in him or being his friend. Scam, may be part of the Jamaica lottery sceme.

- KariReceive multiple calls from this number every day. I do not answer it, but it is seriously annoying. I believe this is the number of a call that my mother answered which stated that she had won some money. She has serious short term memory problems and only remembered that she had won some money.
- CeCeCaller said his name was Sterling Black and he was with Publisher's Clearing House and that my mother had been selected as a winner of 5,000.00. All she had to do was give them her c/c number and let them bill her for 1.99 a week worth of magazine subscriptions (all in one lump sum) and they would send her out a 1,000.00 certificate which she could use for groceries etc until the rest of the money was sent to her.
When they called back, she told them she didn't believe that she had won anything, or she would have received something in the mail and the caller told her that she hadn't actually won the money, just a chance to be entered into a drawing for the money and they needed the subscription payment to show that she actually read magazines purchased thru their publishing house in order to be eligible. She hung up on them.- Caller: Publisher's Clearing House

- mabThe caller i.d. shows up as a Georgia # and when you answer they tell you you have entered a prize program. I don't usually answer these calls but after many days of their calling I had had it. Told them not to call again.
- MacSeems to be a magazine sales company that suggests strongly to the mark that he/she has won $5,000 in a drawing. Then goes on to pile years of magazine subscriptions and gets a credit card number from the mark. No one has won anything. If you call them back, they will play a recorded phone message which may establish that someone bought magazines, but probably does not prove that you did or anyone in hour household did. If it is the company I think it is, it gets a Fat F from the Better Business Bureau.

- CarolBeen getting calls from this place for weeks, answered today. Guy talked fast, mentioned something about 3 magazines for 1.97 a month from American Family Publishers. Did a lot of sweet talking ("You sound so much younger") Said I was a potential winner of $5000 dollars, and that they would be sending me a $1000 grocery voucher for anything except tobacco products at a grocery store. Gave me a claim number and said to keep it until July 31st, as I will need to provide it to claim my win at the close of the sweepstakes, and said I would receive a call-back in 5 minutes from "Stanly Black". Sure enough, "Stanly Black" calls back in 5 minutes, and wants to process my "order" for my 3 magazines and he would need my card number, and I said I wasn't interested in buying any magazines, and as soon as he heard that he hung up. As soon as they hear that you are not interested in purchasing their bogus magazine subscription, they hang up, so you might want to just simply tell the caller that you don't want to buy magazines. I guess they will finally stop calling, since I turned out not to be a "live one".
