I receive calls from this number.  They leave a message, but it is a recording that is cut off and does not identify the caller.

Received a call from this number but my phone never rang.  Message left to call between business hours.  Beginning of message could not be understood due to it being cut off

I keep receiving calls from this number and most of the time I keep saying "hello" "hello" no one replies while sometime I can hear some disturbance but no voice.

What is this?

It's an "automatic dialer" machine that is used by Durham & Durham law firm (and many other similarly related companies) and they are trying to contact the individual listed at the phone number to notify them about a debt and most likely going for arbritration/ litigation.  If they identify as an attorney, they are not collecting but most likely going to court on it.  The message is often cut off because it is configured correctly to wait for the "beep" at the end of the answering machine message.  A message gets left because most likely, there is no one available at the call center to connect the dialed number with so a message gets left.

9 times out of 10, one can Google these numbers as they appear on the caller ID (including dashes) and if this web site doesn't show up for questionable numbers that have been received, then the company information will come up.  If it doesn't, the next move would be to hit up Searchbug.com and check if the number is a "Landline or cell phone".  If cell phone, most likely, you won't find anything.  If landline, then keep looking, it'll be found somehow/ somewhere

recently changed my oldest childs cell phone, and we started recieving calls from the Durham & Durham agency (from 770-874-6800). i finally got through to one of the agents and explained my problem - the agent was extremely rude as if i should just put up with the phone calls and go away. the rude Durham & Durham Agent then said it would take 48 hours to have my number removed. I wonder if it is legal for them to tell me that they are looking for robert rodriguez to collect a debt. Maybe the agent will get a life one day.

Yes! This company is extremely rude. They continue to call my company and every time we respond they say they cannot find anything about our business in their files. Their automatic dialer calls us multiple times a day and they say they don't know why! The calls keep coming and they don't care!

I kept receiving calls to my company-issued Blackberry phone from Durham & Durham.  I was finally able to return their call during normal business hours.  I explained the situation and they were very polite and prompt about removing my number and said the calls should stop within 48 hours.  They had the number as being owned by someone named "Christine X", so she probably just cancelled her phone number.

I used to get these calls very often and could hardly reply back since it was mostly automated calls. The 770-874-6800 was mostly unreachable during office hours. So i called the toll free number mentioned by "perturbed" in his message. It worked and they were polite and said they would take my number off the list. Hopefully some peace at the end of it :)

I've been receiving 1-2 calls on my home phone/week since Spring 2007.  With the second call on my answering machine, I called back, reached someone who said they were looking for "Christine" about an unpaid bill.  I assured her that I knew no one by that name and that they had the wrong number. She promised to have my number removed within 48 hours.  Here we are in January 2008.  I receive the calls at 2:00am, 6:00am, any time of day.  I'm in the same time zone as them.

I'm going to file a complaint with the Georgia Bar Association, linked above. I'm just waiting for a return call from THEM now.

Make sure to register on Do Not Call Registry.  Takes 31 days after you file to go into effect.

Call the law firm and tell them to stop.  They just atuo-call any number relating to people who have had a credit issue, non-stop, until someone responds.  They do it after hours so there is not way to stop it unless you call them back.  Wait to get a human and they should remove you within 48 hours.

I think this may relate to my adult son who lives in Georgia and has nothing to do with me.

I  am on the do not call registry but will reaffirm my number is still on the list.  This is the only number that calls me repeatedly : 770 874-6800

brand new number on new cellphone, so obviously not me....get calls and voice mails from these people...emailing them to see if it will stop
