Man called said he was from a law firm. He was very rude and unprofessional. Carlos Cruz was his name. Called my personal cell phone and asked to speak to my mother, I told him I would give her a message. He gave me an 800 number to call him back on but would not tell me any more information. I told him that I would not give her the message if he could not tell me what the call was in reference to. He said that he would call me everyday until I did. He then hung up.

We received a very strance call from this number.  Judy Moore, asked for the company owner, and then when the receptionist did her job by asking more detailed questions, got extremely rude.  770-933-6923 or 800-722-2473.

We did fine the company was Rollins & Rivera of Atlanta Georgia.  Search several web sites, and can't find any information about who they are or what they do.  Yahoo, Google didn't yield any results.  Additionally, I went to the Better Business Bureau web site and Searched Rollins & Rivera, RRI, both their 770 & 800 telephone number to come up with no additional information.

So, I called their office number,  Their receptionist answered with "RRI".  She was very vague, rude, and would not disclose any information what type of company this is.

If this company is also bothering you, I recommend you notify your states Attorney General and report them.

I too received very rude and threatening calls from Paul Cook from Rawlins and Rivera.  This is a collection acgency using tactics which are considered wrong per the Fair Debt Collection Act.  The FTC has a preliminary injunction against this company.  If you feel you have been abuse or treated unfairly by this company and their calls - contact the FTC www.ftc.gov and register a complaint.  You can read the preliminary injuction at the FTC site

Different people (all have been female) have called my office almost daily. They are extremely rude & tell me they are involved with some legal issues with our 'company', etc, etc, etc. We are an ambulance service, not a company. They say we have to call them back immediately at 800-722-2473. Today, after listening to the lady, she asked me to repeat back the information she had told me to write down. I couldn't help but laugh (since I obviously hadn't taken a message). She wasn't very happy & hung up!! I have found information on the internet about numerous lawsuits against 'Rawlins & Rivera' (or however it's spelled) by the Federal Trade Commission regarding false, threatening, and unfair collection acts. Google "Rawlins & Rivera" & you'll see what I mean!

Rec'd a call from Judy Moore from Rollins & Rivers @ (800) 722-2473.  She asked for the President of our company. When we asked about what the item was she indicated a collections matter.  When asked for more details she refused and asked for her call to be returned.  When told she would be directed to our CFO she hung up.  Our CFO called and she claimed she couldn't talk to him hung up.  He called back and requested a supervisor was told they were busy but would take a message - no voice mail. The receptionist took the message and when asked who would return the call she hung up.  I am contacting the FTC on this matter.

Rollins and  Rivera has a toll free number 888 628 9536.  I own a vocational school, they called me to have me employ them to "go after" the students who have dropped the program for tuition owed..  They were most unprofessional in getting me to the phone-told my assistant that they were a "law firm" and could only speak to me and that I needed to phone them immediately about a pending situation.  When I did phone them and told them that we have a recovery company Patrica Johnson (probably not her real name) literally screamed at me on the phone.  This company needs to be closed down.

I wouldn't worry too much longer about these thugs. As C. has stated, the FTC is going after them:

For Release: February 2, 2007
FTC Asks Court to Stop Abusive Debt Collectors

Operation Allegedly Harassed Consumers With Lies and Threats
The Federal Trade Commission has filed a lawsuit against a debt collection operation that allegedly threatened consumers throughout the nation with lawsuits, seizure of property, and arrest. The FTC is seeking an end to such illegal practices and a freeze of the defendants’ assets.

“The Federal Trade Commission will not tolerate these kinds of repeated, egregious violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act,” FTC Chairman Deborah Platt Majoras said, adding that abusive debt collectors will face aggressive law enforcement by the agency.

According to the FTC’s complaint, the operation used misleading and threatening letters and telephone calls while collecting debts for beauty schools, truck driving schools, bail bondsmen, fitness centers, and other small businesses. The complaint alleges that the defendants falsely threatened that they were about to file lawsuits against consumers, that consumers’ property would be seized and sold, that their wages would be garnished, and that they would be liable for legal costs. In some cases, they threatened consumers with arrest in some cases, and often used profanity and shouting during telephone calls.

The defendants operated from Florida under a series of different business names and corporate identities since 1995, using mail drops in Texas, Georgia, and Florida, according to the complaint. They are charged with violating Section 5 of the FTC Act and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, which bars deceptive, unfair and abusive debt collection practices. The defendants are Rawlins & Rivera Inc. of Florida, Rawlins & Rivera Inc. of Georgia, Ryan & Reed Inc. of Florida, Ryan & Reed Inc. of Georgia, RRI Inc., their officers, Janis Brust, Joe L. Hunt, Sr., Joe L. Hunt, Jr., and Shannon Hunt, and a Florida lawyer, Robert W. Bird, whose letterhead was used for many of their collection letters.

The Commission vote authorizing the filing of the complaint in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Orlando Division, was 5-0.

NOTE: The Commission files a complaint when it has “reason to believe” that the law has been or is being violated, and it appears to the Commission that a proceeding is in the public interest. The complaint is not a finding or ruling that the defendant has actually violated the law. The case will be decided by the court.

Copies of the complaint are available from the FTC’s Web site at http://www.ftc.gov and from the FTC’s Consumer Response Center, Room 130, 600 Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20580. The FTC works for the consumer to prevent fraudulent, deceptive, and unfair business practices in the marketplace and to provide information to help consumers spot, stop, and avoid them. To file a complaint in English or Spanish, or to get free information on any of 150 consumer topics, call toll-free, 1-877-FTC-HELP (1-877-382-4357), or use the complaint form at http://www.ftc.gov. The FTC enters Internet, telemarketing, identity theft, and other fraud-related complaints into Consumer Sentinel, a secure, online database available to more than 1,600 civil and criminal law enforcement agencies in the U.S. and abroad.

Received calls on my business cell and landlines about a matter involving a girl we have living at our house. Mark Miller from Rollins and Rivers 888-873-6704 strongly suggested to me that I should have receipts for all of my belongings. I flat out asked him if he was threatening me. He said he was not, but that I better have receipts.

I did some checking on this company. They are RRI in Atlanta. Their address is: 8343 Roswell Rd. I got this after *67 my call to them and asked for their address. They were initially reluctant to give it out, in this case persistence pays.

I have filed complaints with the FTC and BBB Atlanta. Keep up the good work guys.

I'm just confirming the same story, several calls to my company from Judy at Rollins & Rivers. Some of my employees are reporting that she was very insistent that I call back. Given the details of the letter above, I wonder if they believe my company is a fitness center? Actually, we do computer training. I'm tempted to accept her call if she calls back and record it.

A Miss Johnson (Pamela? Patricia?) from "Rollins and Rivers" called today asking for the owner of the company, indicated it was a confidential matter and she could only reveal it involved something about collections and recoveries.  Indicated it was VERY important the owner call back to 1-888-225-0076.  Not planning to call back.  We don't owe anyone and we don't wish to have anyone doing collections for us.  We also used to get calls from Ryan and Reed all the time asking to do collections for us.  SCAM ARTISTS!  BEWARE!!

Rawlins & Rivers, Inc. 1511 Kastner Place Sanford, FL  32771 1-888-435-5983 does (once after today) our collections.  I have had several people call me and tell me they were rude, made threats and also made several racial remarks.  I have spoken to a Mr. Graham among others.  Several times the few accounts that RRI did collect on they kept the funds, until you call and say I heard that you collected funds from "Jane Doe" when will I receive it.  I am also calling the Better Business Bureau to file a complaint.

Ditto here,
Miss Patricia Johnson called and told me that she would only speak to the owner of the company but couldn't give me my boss' name so I was immediately suspicious.  I googled Rollins and Rivers and this is what I found...unbelievable

Kind of in a different situation than the people above, but we are a company that got scammed into hiring these people to collect outstanding debts. They are extremely rude, threatening & evasive. BEWARE! We have since tried to cancel services with them for the past year now, but no response or action has been taken. They have since been turned over to the BBB, and we contacted our Attorney General.

IGNORE THEM AND BEWARE OF THEIR SCARE TACTICS!

PS If anyone needs the head honcho's name.... Its Thomas Graham 1-800-309-6290!
