    This one left a message regarding litigation regarding fraud against me. I can tell you with my previous experience, they do not contact by phone unless it is a data miner, which is a scam. Beware of these calls, because they have nothing in mind except getting your data, which is considered 'surrendered information' once you release it. Be careful.

    The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

    •is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
    •refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
    •asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
    •exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

    If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

    •Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
    If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

    .•Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

    •Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

    •Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

    •Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

    Pay day loan scam. Been calling me from different numbers on and off for years. I believe is ACS legal MCI and others. They are all the same company. ACS legal represent themselves as litigators, law firms. They are all full of it and call family members.

    I ignore the calls now cause at first I called and investigated the numbers and they are all reported as scammers. Spoke to a few but they don't give up. The more you answer them the more scary tactics they use so you can pay.  They can call all they want cause they will never get a penny from me. Bunch of criminals working from a car garage.

    I received a call from this number saying the same thing as the message above.  It's just the scammers way of trying to scare you into paying the fake debt.  They are full of it.  Beware!!  Look up the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.  These people ride the line or blatantly cross over it.  Know your rights and if they violate them they can be liable.

    They leave a threatening message concerning an alleged state and federal tax-this is the third message left in over three weeks. The number doesn't show up neither does it identify who the caller is. Will be reporting number to FTC. This call is a scam! Don't call them back.

    I kid you not I get at least 2 calls per week from a host of companies and they are always for a quick payday loan taken out on a US bank account or the US bank account itself. All of these were allegedly taken out over a year after I left the state of Ohio and in each case I walked into a branch and opened the account. I guess I have some mad teleportation skills.

    Of course you get the usual litigation and arrest scares. I have supposedly been taken to court over 30 times now and the police are coming to Florida to drag me back to Ohio. It can get hilarious after awhile and even when you let them know they are scammers they still continue with the threats. At least I know how a complete moron and loser can get a job.

    I received a message from a private number leaving this number, 770-983-6747, as a call back regarding the urgent need to speak to me or my "administrator" about "the processing of [my] state and federal law." This makes absolutely no sense to me so I ignored it until I received a second weird call. I then did a phone number search to find that this is a common scam number. Thanks everyone for sharing your stories. This was mine. I feel even more secure about ignoring it now.

    The simple thing for all of you to do is stop answering your phone when you get a call from a number you do not recognize.  I do not understand why this is so hard.  I received a call too today, but I did not answer because I did not know the number.  Of course they do not leave a message because there is no debt, it is just another attempt to scam.  You cannot be scammed if you don't answer your phone!  That means they have to find you view snail mail.  If I had any debt (have never even bounced a check in 45 years of marriage) then I would think they might leave a message but it is illegal to robocall, and I believe that's what these scammers do, and so many of you simply take every phone call received.  What is wrong with your voicemail???  DUMB!!!!
