called and said he was raising money for fraternal order of police, but on google it reports it as one Anthony J Galea, 2000 N Lincoln Parkway, Chicago, IL 60614. Sounds fishy too me.btw he called my cell and only immediate family has cell#.

Called my cell too.  However, when I called him on my VOIP phone, it said that the number was disconnected.  Funny how a number can be disconnected within 30 seconds of him calling me.

Yes, someone called my cell as well, but I didn't answer, I knew is something wrong about the phone number, plus I had received a different phone number that I don't know, so when you see a number that you don't know, I suggest you don't pick up, some sales people want to get your personal information to make money, such as SSN, address, etc...! Plus sometime when you pick it up they will make money from your Cell phone bills.
Anyway, don't answer a phone number that you don't know, and if this is important they will leave you a message right. Just don't give any important information thought the phone.

I just got a call from this number 773-549-3987, and I wasn't able to pick up coz I was sending an text. I blocked my number and called the number back, and guess what, it is already disconnected. Sounds very very fishy. I don't know what kind of scam this is but, it is ridiculous.

I too received a call from this number 1-773-549-3987 a 3:32pm EST in Washington, DC area and when I returned the call from 2 separate and different phone numbers. The message I got was that the Phone number has been disconnected. It was not only Fishy to me but I do not know anyone with a number in this area Code.

Maryland 12/19 Received call from this number on cell phone.  Did not answer.

A recieved a call from this number as well but i dont answer numbers i dont know. they  didnt leave a msg. after reading these posts im glad i didnt answer it.

i'm from NY,  & i too got this call on my cell phone & got the same result from google as the other lady did.  who is this person?

I got a call from this number too on Dec. 18 2008 and did not pick up because of the area code. Only my family and friends have my cell number so don't know what's up with this but apparently other people have had this number call them too!!! Must be a scam......... I received a call at 1038 am in Johnstown, PA on my blackberry that was provided to me from work. The only people who have my work cell number are the ones I work with in Johnstown. I don't answer number I don't recognize - not even on my work phone. It's rediculous you can't even have a cell phone without people bothering you.

Yeah this person called me 773-549-3987 at about 15 mins ago and woke me up.  I looked up on google and got the name of others that already posted here.  I didn't pick up because I don't know the number.  These people are driving me insane. Do they not have anything better to do but bother people. Geesh

hung up on me after i told them i didnt register for anything because they said i needed to verify my address and  social security number exact words were" hi this is jacob callin to verify  your registration this call is being recorded and all information is confidential could you please start by verifying your exact name and social lmaoooo0o0o0o

that was so funny  i cursed them out how stupid do they think i was  and they just hung up

My cell had this number as a missed call.  When I did a Google search this forum was in the result list.  On call back the number is disconnected.  Does anyone know if law enforcement know about this?

I had the same experience; the phone rang, I ignored it, googled it, and got someone named Anthony J. Galea. I have no idea who it is or how they got my cell #, but it feels fishy to me as well.

I got the same call as everyone else out there on my cell, I didn't answer because of the weird/unfamiliar phone number. I'm from Long Island, NY. How do they get your cell #? Unbelievable!

Yep got this call too!!  Didnt answer (I don't pick up the cell for numbers I don't recognize) Crazy Stuff!!!

Anyway no message was left and I think it's safe to believe that this is a scam and if anyone got a call from 773-549-3987 DO NOT GIVE OUT ANY INFORMATION -
