Called a few times and finally answered, it is a marketing company that was calling local businesses (in my area) about putting an ad on the radio with a local Country Music station.

I called the radio station and they had no clue as to who these guys are.  STEER CLEAR OF THIS ONE!!!!   It's probably a SCAM!!   See if you can get info on the guy next time he calls.  Ask for his number, etc...

Got a call from a John Overstreet who said he was selling advertising for a local radio station, WQLT, in conjunction with a run for Breast Cancer at the end of July.  I was gullible, listened to what he said, even agreed to buy the advertising spots and worked out the wording on the script.  About an hour later, a man identifying himself as Todd Roberts called back and said I would get a discount if I paid by credit card now.  Like a dummy, I gave the card number over the phone.  After I got off the phone, I started having second thoughts.  I called the number back and when I asked for John Overstreet, I was put on hold to be connected with him.  I wasn't sure what I wanted to say, so I hung up.  I sent an email to the marketing director of WQLT, but after 24 hours she has not responded.  No charge on my American Express yet, but I will keep a watch, and wait to hear back from WQLT.

John Overstreet called our business asking to speak to the owner, about Lite 97.5fm (WLTF) in Martinsburg, WV selling Cybercrime Prevention spots on the radio. I spoke to the General Manager at the radio station via telephone today and he informed me that this was a legitimate call. I guess radio stations are outsourcing their cold-call campaigns rather than hire sales agents at the radio station.

Just thought I'd post a review here that this call is legitimate (at least from WLTF) and is not a scam.

received Several calls from a Guy Jenga Baker to buy time for a local radio station in Alta Loma, Ca he would never give me his # so I asked him to stop calling me. Seems Weird to ME!!!!!!! Steer Clear!!! and definetly DO NOT give out your C.C. #

Just another john overstreet call.  What a rude way to solicit business, call for the owner and hang up on the guy who answers the phone.

Called them back and they said they were a law firm??  and do not solicit anything????  Ill #   I live in Colorado??

They always call when I'm at work, but leave no message.  If they are soliciting for Radio Ads they are calling a residence and not a business.  Sounds like another telemarketer just doing random dialing.

Keeps asking for the owner, probably another employee told him the owners first name, says they are selling local radio ads for 1400 AM in Roebuck, SC for anti-drunk driving ads to air over the holidays. I took notes so I could pass on the message but the owner of this shop has never spoken to them and has never heard of the program. When I called the radio station, they said they do contract outside companies to sell ads, and the station says this is probably legitimate. Their fees are higher, which is expected, but he said it was not a scam. From the sounds of it they are aggressive and probably faking some info (got someone to give up the owners name and pretended to me the owner already knew about it) but not a scam.

i get these calls from 773-681-3700 every few weeks and get hung up on when i answer.
i no longer answer Out of Area, restricted, or Numbers i do not Recognize.

just got a call, but was on the other line, so this one rolled over to my voice mail. All I got was music as though they had put me on hold!  I guess they didn't listen well enough to realize they were being recorded themselves!

These morons call every %&*@ ing day and don't say anything.  They just stay on the line.  Now they are entered as Do Not Answer.  They call I see Do Not Answer.  It keeps me from wasting time.

I got a similar call asking for a boss, manager or ownwer. I told him everyone was gone for the weekend and offered to take his name and number to have someone call back on Monday. He would not give me info and hung up quickly. He sounded sneaky. Watch out!

You are kind of foolish for even posting this message.  You call the company back to ask to speak to your sales rep, and as they are connecting you to him, you get SCARED and hang up??

Called to sell advertising for WCTK Cat Country for a special Breast Cancer awareness week in February.  Worked out the script details with him on the phone he said he would have an intern call me to work out the details. Told me that I had agreed to a verbal contract that could not be broken  (what planet is he on). Have not heard from them but I check this number out on the web and got all the information I needed if they call me back. I gave him no financial information so I'm safe.

This John Overstreet man has been calling the company I work for everyday for a week now and when I tell him the owner is not in he gets rude. The last time I spoke with him he told me that if the owner does not want to talk to him he and his wife will take their business elsewhere and that they spend a lot of money with the company. I found that to be soooo untrue. When I ask to take a message so that I can have him call him back he says he does not operate like that.

Got a breathless call from a telemarketer asking me to contribute varying degrees of money for an Anti-Drug Campaign for our kids.  He emphasized the cost of saving one life would be worth it.  Though I wondered aloud to him why kids would be listening to a radio show during drive time and how I would get ROI, but,,,
The call was from a guy purported to be from WOXY in Oxford, Ohio, 97.7 FM.

these people keep calling stating they are a radio station, sometimes they call at night, don't leave a message, just hang up.

We get calls for the owner from a Jim Kay. Extremely rude. Calls 3 or 4 times a day. Some solicitors are so so stupid they don't realize the more rude they are the less likely they'll reach their end target. He says he's calling for advertising for WENG radio in Florida, a local station.
