action of law against me

Called said there is some kind of civil suit and I need to get my attorney gave me a civil number.

When they called and left a civil number was it v123-2923

threatening a restraining order

Received call.  Called number back trying all options available.  First two options said call could not be completed at this time and to try again later.  Third option said that call could not be transferred at this time.  BIG HOAX is what it sounds like to me.

I got a call from this number saying I was being served a law suit against me (civil  v123-2483  and a restraining order was being made  the number was 7742218770. I called the number back and no answer.  I don,t like to be threatened . Probaly a hoax?? I am late on my mortgage??

No such thing as a restraining order against debt.
Go to ftc.gov and read the FDCPA and learn your rights.

Called this number and they offered a settlement to avoid a court case.  Now the number is DISCONNECTED.  What kind of crap is this?

Same as above:  civil lawsuit...restraining order...get an attorney.  WTH?

Got the same message as everyone else. I called them back and agreed on a settlement, but I said I would have to call back in an hour with my payment info because I was at work, When I called back it told me the number was disconnected, My settlement offer was only good till end of business day. I tried the number again after 6:30. Number was connected again with a whole different greeting and options, yet when my bf tried to call from his phone he got the out of order recording. Something is BS here!

Also received a call saying I was being served a law suit (V123-2523) and for me to forward the voice mail on to my lawyer and we have 48 hours to call 774-221-8770.  This message was left on my home and cell phone numbers.  Didn't call back, not sure what they were talking about....must be a prank call...don't know any one in the MA area.

Have a civil investigation case. Show cause or something like that.

Several months ago, I received this phone call. The unidentified, articulate caller left the message for someone I did not know. My first thought was to call the number back and tell them they had the wrong number. Then I decided that it was not my responsibility to let them know they had the wrong household and I had no responsibility to the person they were calling for. Besides, the caller made it sound like she was from a law enforcement agency and the phone number was not a local number. In my considerable experience, I did not think the police did this type of thing. In short, the call sounded - as someone else put it - like BS. Not too long after the first call, I recieved the same call/message again. Again, I ignored it. Today, I came home to an answering machine with five back-to-back calls - but, no messages - and one w/message. You got it! Only difference is the name they used was not that of a stranger, but of my ex who has not lived here for over ten years. Luckily, I thought to Google the phone number. Isn't technology great !?! Hope this helps someone. PS Never thought I would receive the infamous letter scam where one could make hundreds (for a $30 up-front fee + shipping) by stuffing envelopes at home, but I did last week! Return address in Chicago. Professional envelope; swiss-cheese letter. Yes, it was too funny not to read! The snakes are always out there and - unfortunately - in this economy I believe there are folks who are doing things that they normally would not dream to do. Stay alert, guys!!!

scam no one ever calls on lawsuit you are always served by officer or recieve papers you must sign for I wish this person would get arrested before someone gives him information and they steal their identity or money out of their account

I to got this call today from this number. they left a mesage on my cell stating there was a restraining order and I was involved in a civil suit and have to give my attoreny this information. they gave the number as H56E-1444. this is crazy, don't people have better things to do?

I doi't have time to waste but just know this is a big B.S. scam and don't spend another moment worryuig about the A. Holes on the other end.  I just wish some authority would shut them down.

Call came in a automated voice and left a message on my answering machine. Claimed there was an action against me which included a restraining order and that I must appear in court. Thankfully this forum was available and came up when I Googled the number and showed many others having recieved similar harrassing and fraudulent calls.  Call such as this that make threats are, in my belief, illegal. So I made a copy of the message and forwarded it to the Attourny General's office. I suggest that everyone do the same since only a critical mass of complaints to authorities seem to cause an investigation to be launched. I do speculate that this number is either a Vonage, or other VOIP phone, being used in a foriegn country or that the number showing on your caller id is being spoofed to make it appear that the call is originating from within the USA.

Have someone else call and pretend to either be your attorney or a police officer, this is a scam, do NOT pay them any money.

Received a call stating that there was a legal action pending against myself.
I'm a pretty straight forward person that has lived life on the straight and straight and knew
there were NO actions pending.
Don't know why these people and companies do this but it is quite aggravating to say the least.
I wish there was a way to take court action against such companies.
I really don't nor want these surprises or headaches.
If any one out there know something that can be done. Let everyone know what action needs to be taken.

Same as everyone above. Got message from my friend that he received a VM that I have a pending "restraining order." I work in non-profit and am Fingerprint Clearance Certified-naturally I freaked. Call went to my roommates phone which is not associated to me in ANY way. Tried to call several times to no avail. Did internet search to find company-doesn't exist. Going to contact my attorney general for advice-will post results.
