got a call in regards to I owing money to the irs....called from a virgina number asking us to call 775-624-5706 number

Got  message from the same number as Taylor-- The caller did not ask for a specific person.  Them message stated that "you" are to appear before a magistrate regarding money owed to the US government and if the call was not returned it would be considered a second offense.

I've gotten this threatening call 3 times.

Found message on phone in a heavy Asian accent that wasn't clear enough to understand what arm ofnthe gov't I was being preside by...name was Steve Martin...not to be confused with the comedian Steve Martin of course.  If I don't attend to this matter ...mumbo jumbo....I will taken before  a magistrate of some court etc. The caller ID was 757-952-0787.  Don't have time to call back and play along...just be aware it's a scam of some kind

Received the same call from steve martin ???? Did not ask for me or indicate he knew he was calling so i ignored as spam.

Ditto, ditto. Steve Martin made the same request for the 775 area code and called from the same Virginia number.

To receive such calls is an attempt to perpetrate a fraud on the public!  It is using the threat of prosecution before "a Magistrate or Grand Jury" to scare people into complying with the caller's demands. Don't be fooled by this Scam, report it!

got a call from an uknown;  threatening  me with "magistrate judge of nevada'

Got a call from 775 624 5706 number, message was left stating a Steve Martin was calling to inform " you" -- did not have a name only "you"  have committed a federal offense and have to be seen by a magistrate of a court.   It was a foreign sounding voice and "robotic" sounding.  Total scam!!  I did not call the number back.

Received call from 775 624 5706 indicating need to call regarding appearance before a magistrate or grand jury.  When I called the number indicated was told to leave my number as person was not available.  Sounds like a scam.  Did not leave my number.

Message left on answering machine urging us to contact them to avoid having to be brought before a magistrate, grand jury etc. When you call the number it goes straight to voicemail where I assume they harvest the phone numbers of the potential marks that that they will filter through to determine who sounds dumb enough to fall for their scam.

I'm a police officer.  Got a complaint from an elderly citizen about this number.  I called and left a message for them to call me back.  I then called the number where the call originated (757-952-0787) and person answering said it was US Treasury Legal Affairs.  Perfect!  Because I am a law enforcement officer too!  They hung up when I asked for a supervisors name and their address.  Called back a few times and they kept hanging up, then finally blocked me.  Anyway, this is a scam.  Hang up, block them, just don't be a victim!

Received the call from 757-952-0787. Message that I owed money, same as above reports. They gave the callback number 775-624-5706.

I received the same call today, same crap as everyone above has commented about. Would love to meet this piece of [***] in person. These low-lifes prey upon helpless victims and clean them out. Hopefully "Steve Martin" gets what's coming to him. To all of you who obviously didn't fall for it, let your loved ones know that the IRS will always contact you by mail if there's an issue, not by threatening you over the  phone.

Guy with foreign accent "Steve Martin" (yeah right) said he was with US Treasury enforcement. Totally bogus.

Same as the above.  Steve Martin calling regarding US treasury violation.  Callers have heavy accent, asian I thinkIf you call back to mess with them a lady will answer, says she's a Treasury Agent and give a badge number.  When you tell them this is a scam, they block their number.

This is the latest scam reported on the news. An individual who purportedly represents the IRS/US Treasury. Hit the  ignore button!

"Steve"'s been a busy boy spreading his scam. He ( or a clone) called before with scary warnings about our computer. Kept calling back until my husband held him on the line and told him the FBI was monitoring the call. That stopped the calls for that scam. Now we have caller ID. (That didn't stop him from leaving the message.)
