Rogers have made this announcement on their website regarding this telephone spam:

Attention Rogers Customers: Public Service Announcement

Rogers has recently received telephone inquiries from some of its customers about a telemarketing offer that identifies them as a Rogers' customer who is eligible for a travel reward.

These calls are not coming from Rogers and we are not a partner of this company. We advise anyone who receives such a call to hang up. If you have received a call and have provided personal information, please contact your local police.

Customers report answering a phone call to hear an automated message: "Hello, because you are a valued Rogers' customer you will receive 3,000 travel dollars. To accept press 1." Any customer who presses 1 is connected to a representative who identifies themselves from a company that is a partner of Rogers.

Again, these calls are not coming from Rogers and we are not a partner of this company.

This company is located outside of Canada and as a result the "National Do not Call List" does not apply to them.

Rogers Security is looking into this matter and we are taking legal action. For additional information about phone fraud, please visit: www.phonebusters.com

I didn't answer this call. I get a lot of spam messages on my cell and always let it go to voicemail. I figure, if it's important, they would leave a message with a call back number. If they don't, I google the number. Thanks for posting these messages! It helps. :)

I did however answer a call with this message while at work one day a few months ago, not thinking that these people would attempt calling a business line. Many people in my office got the same message within a couple of days. We all hung up. Still think it's crazy that they would try business lines.

A recorded message told me that I've won some prize for being a dire "Rogers" customer. I've just confirmed with Rogers customer care that they do not call from such a number and such message. Just Hung up without doing anything. This definitely sounds like a fraud as some people who left the comment before me regarding this phone number saying they told them its from Telus. Do not give personal info to these people.

I've just reported this number to "consumerfraudreporting.org" which is jointly managed by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the Ontario Provincial Police, and the Competition Bureau of Canada.

Their advice was NOT to press "1" and DO NOT give any personal info and press pound(#) key repeatedly to knock the phone off the hook or just hang up.  Tell your friends and family.

    This is a scam!!!

I got a call coming in on my cell phone and I did not answer it.  I dialed "0" and they said it came from Port Alberni, BC.  I called from my home phone and all I get is "number not in service."

SCAM - Not by a telco
It is public knowledge (mostly - except for those who have used the line number porting feature) of which telco your phone number (based on area code and exchange) belongs to. This is how they are targeting you as a "Telus" or "Rogers" customer (I can't explain the Canadian Tire one...).

It baffles me that people still fall for this [***]

These calls are now in Ontario and they are using a cover of being a Bell representative.
