Appeared on caller ID.  I didn't answer, search on web appears to be CARFINCO.  Further search on web states "CARFINCO provides consumer payment plans for vehicle repairs".  Suspect call is telemarketing.

No, Carfinco is an actual Finance company in Edmonton. You might of been left as a refference or something

Yeah it was probably a friend of yours board at work or something. Looks like it was made on a late night so probably that.

Do you owe money on a car?  did you co-sign a car loan for someone?  Answer the phone find out what they want.  If they're trying to sell you something, and I can't see that, just ask them to remove your phone number from their calling list.  They may also be trying to find a friend of yours who may have used you for a reference.  I've had that happen.  I just say, "provincial privacy laws prohibit me from giving you that information, but if you give my your name and number, I'll have them call you.  Please remove my phone number form your list or I'll call the phone company to have harassment charges laid against you."  I've done that with a few company's and so far, it's working.

Got a missed call from these creeps and i called back asking who was calling me and what they wanted from me. I thought they were inquiring about the stuffs I was trying to sell on a local ad here in EDMONTON. They were asking if I was planning to buy a vehicle or did i get my vehicle from them, i said no, Ive got mine from a bank i said.

I asked if any of the employees where calling with regards to the stuff I was selling online, so they asked for my last name. I gave it to them, because the person Ive talked to said he could trace the records what was the call for if I give my number for reference.

BUT THEN, SUDDENLY THEY ASKED FOR MY SOCIAL INSURANCE NUMBER.... I SAID HELL NO IM NOT GIVING THOSE NUMBERS TO YOU. WHY SHOULD I???

And then the guy laughed and said they had no business in calling me then. DUH???

NEVER GIVE OUT YOUR S.I.N. (Social Insurance Number).
These [***] can use your SIN for credit checking and it will cause
BAD CREDIT RATINGS!!! or worse, who knows what anomalies they are running on!!!

got a message from this number asking if we know a crystal K?? AND COULD WE PLEASE CALL THEM BACK....WEIRD.......

I called them back and they said they wanted a reference for a car loan. I told them that I have no info regarding that person, and I told them that under the law if you request your info to be taken out of their records that they must comply as you are making a formal request and that it will be reported if they contact you again without your permission and that you are recording this conversation to confirm. If you look up your gov info on do not call list, they have a ref bi-law that you can state. Under the law they must remove u from their list. I usually tell telemarketers I am on the national do not call list and that u document all calls and make sure to ask for their  name and info. If they state that they do not have your number on it, just state u have already spoken to their company within the last 6 mths and have been on it for over a year, and that you will contact the proper authorities to make the complaint and they could be fined up to $50,000 for failing to comply with the do not call list. (I havnt gotten a call from a telemarketer in 6 months, at least not the same one). Wether its true that your on the list. Also, when u answer the phone, ask who they are and what they are calling about.. when they say its a telemarketer, tell them this number is for  a retirement home patient room that they just got last month. They will immediately remove it and not call u again.

Yeah, they keep calling me insisting that I'm someone else, phone them back and complain. They're a company based in Alberta, Canada..

They just called me (I live in Ontario) and left a message saying they were wondering if I knew a Scott DelFinco, and I should call them back (on my own long distance plan of course)...really?  A company called CarFINCO is calling me out of province asking if I know a Scott DelFINCO?  How stupid do these people think we are?

Carfinco is a finance company that povides financing for people that can not get it thru conventional means like thier own bank, they deal with dealerships across Canada that special in rebuilding your credit.If you get a call from that number , someone has used you as a reference or you owe them money, they only finance thru dealerships, they dont directly deal with the consumer until they have bought the car from the dealership, Carfinco then pays the dealer for the car and now you inturn owe the money to them.

I got calls from them when I was used as a reference, pretty standard stuff when you borrow money.

Just so you all know, Carfinco is a real finance company, like other people have said. My hubby and I got a car through them and they only called our references asking them information about us, not anyone else. They wouldn't just randomly call people, they are a business, maybe one of their employees doesn't like there job and they are screwing around, not sure??!! I doubt anyone got a prank phone call from them regardless, they have had my number for 7 months and haven't even called me once....

They are a finance company looking for the individual that owes them money.  If they are calling you and you don't know this person then there has been a mistake.  I used to work collections as a skiptracer.  They will not call you if there was no connection.  I keep getting the calls for a friend because they used my name as a reference.  That was a really dumb idea on his part because I gave them all of the information- he never asked me to be a reference.  Besides- this isn't the first car that has been repocessed from him over the years.  I also told them that they should get better checks before lending out money.  This has happened with him quite often.

carfinco sucks it is not a reputable company it rips people off ....and the lady that has her car though them look out one day you could be driving and your car will just stop ..because some idiot in there GPS unit has decided he would like to screw with people that day...

I received a call from 780-413-7549. I do not know the caller at all and I did not answer the call.

I got a call from them a couple nights ago regarding if I knew a neighbour named so-and-so! I don't and I'm not calling them back!

RE: CARFINCO   Actually feel kind of bad for this company. It turns out Jamie is right. They're underwriters for the auto industry. They only call you when a loan is being defaulted on. Usually because you or someone who knows you has used you as a reference on a car loan application. Had an ex employee use me as his current employer and received a few calls from this number.

THEY ARE NOT TELEMARKETERS! they are an auto finance company who would be calling for 2 reasons:

1: someone listed you as a reference for a car loan and they are following up

OR

2: they have your number in their system for someone that has a loan with them, which has probably defaulted and collections are beginning, they would be calling you to confirm your identity as the debtor or as a wrong number.
