The call display came up on our phone as R A Malatest which is a research firm in Edmonton AB.My husband told the woman that he couldn't understand her. Why,if they want to survey English speaking people can't they hire people who likewise speak english?

They are a company hired by the government to do surveys. If you recieved assistance, attended a government funded program or recieved funding to attend classes, they call with a quick survey to find out if the service was worth the funding. In other words, did the program help. It's SUPPOSED to be voluntary, but they keep calling until you either answer or call them back. If you want them off your back, do their 5 min survey! It won't hurt you ;-)

Got an email from Presto (Metrolinx) to do a survey (last Friday). Seems the survey was developed by R. A. Malatest and Associates. Their company name is on the bottom of the survey.

Had about 10 calls now, I tell them I don't talk to telemarketers and to stop phoning me but they persist.  A great use of tax payers money! I refuse to answer any surveys on the phone as my time is more important to me then their stupid surveys.  Seems like another us of the Temporary Foreign Worker program as over half of the callers are very difficult to understand. The current government has lost my vote.  Great job PMO.

A fairly nice man called doing a capital expenditure survey for Statistics Canada.  The survey was ridiculous as we only build a few items a year by hand, (dog sleds).  It is a small sole proprietorship.  However, we are getting industrial fuel use, industrial water use, labour surveys, this one was capital expenditures asking if the 'business' had bought real estate, buildings, equipment in 2015, also asking if we had been affected by strikes, natural disasters etc.  When I tried to tell him the one thing we had been affected by, difficulty shipping to the USA, he said, "You'll have to complain to the United States about that."

At this point I started to really tell him what I thought of Statistics Canada and their stupid surveys and he hung up on me.  Said, "I'm am going to have to say good bye."  Welcome to Stats Can.

Apparently someone with my name at my phone number and address was in an apprenticeship program (I was on EI but no program). He was asking me questions about myself and apparently I was impersonating myself because he said I was a year older than what I said and he said he couldn't continue the call with me.

Got nervous it was a scam and found this site so it must be legit government survey albeit incompetent.
