- Diane Taylor| 1 replyThey left a message on my answering machine. A man with, it seemed to me an indian accent. He said that his name was Steve Martin, no pun intended, and that he was calling from the U.S department of treasury. He said that charges were going to be pressed against me by the U.S government, if I failed to contact them. I called the police knowing that they were a scam. I called them back and told them that they, the police were on their way to get them. I got the last laugh. HA! They sound very convincing, but don't fall for it. Look the area code and phone number up online. It will tell that those numbers are coming from someone that is a con artist.
