- Anne| 3 repliesI received a voice mail message saying it was the US Treasury service and I needed to contact them regarding my grand jury criminal offense as I would need to appear before a magistrate judge. I was advised to call back so I could help them to help me. Total scam!!
- Caller: Steve Martin, US Treasury
- KimRecorded message from Steve Miller saying there is a legal problem and I should call. I should help them help me. Tried the number they gave me 786-486-0869 (poor person getting these calls). When I called 786-467-0869 Dominic Reese claims to be from the US Treasury (Agent number 1739) and claims there is a Legal problem he needs to send documents to my attorney. When I hesitated, he said very sternly that he'd asked me a question and expected an answer. I said I was thinking and he hung up.
- Caller: US Treasury (NOT)

- anon chicagoYes I just received the exact message claiming to be from the Treasury Dept. and that I needed to appear before the magistrate. Totally a scam. Blocked the number from my phone.

Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $50.00 or so. - MaryI got three calls from that number today, 30 mins apart. Cracked me up. Steve Martin, he-he. And the name definitely didn't match the accent... why not Brad Pitt?
- burnschicagoReceived call from 786-467-0869 claiming to be Steve Martin, US Treasury claiming there was some kind of criminal offence. Instead of calling back, I googled it and came across this forum. What a scham and awful for people who believe it. Frightening.
- MikechicagoReceived message from 786-467-0869 advising of tax trouble I was in and my failure to appear before a magistrate and to call 786-486-0869 immediately. Called back and spoke to very offensive person. Told him I smelled a scam and was told that when he sent out federal agents to arrest me in an hour I'd see if it's a scam. Told him to bring it on, as I just retired from the FBI (not true) and would welcome his federal agents. Also advised him I was armed and had an itchy trigger finger, whereupon he hung up. Total scam. Can't fathom who would fall for this.
- IceAnother Indian scammer. This time claims to be from the Treasury Department. Why is no one doing anything about these dirt bags? .
- Caller: Treasury Department.. [scam]
- Call type: Debt collector
- IceI urge everyone to screw with these dirtbags.Play along and waste their time. I asked where can I send the money to and he caught on and said too late, I should have paid it earlier and agents will be there in 10 min. to arrest me. lol Also said he lived by me. Never been to India in my life.lol
- Caller: SCAM
- JanC replies to AnneI received a call and a very stern voice mail. I called back and after he gave me the 'my badge number is' spiel, I told him I worked for the US Treasury and this phone number is not registered with them. I also told him I was looking up his badge number and it didn't exist. I then asked for his address so I could have the FBI investigate further. Next thing you know I'm speaking to dead space. Hmmmm.....
- shamI received a call from Steve Martin - 786.486.0869 containing the same jibberish message as those stated above. I kind of knew it was a phony message. It angers me that people make these kind of calls and they should be stopped and stopped soon. I can tell you I will file a report and mention it is a form of harassment among other things. This recording was made not by a "Steve Martin" type of voice and I better not receive a call like this again!
- Caller: U.S Treasury
- Call type: Prank
- drgymyIndian accent: Voice to text:
"Hi this message is intended to contact you. My name is Steve Martin and I'm calling regarding enforcement actions executed by US treasury in getting(?) your serious attention. Ignoring this will be an intention of taking it-[...]-to(?) avoid initial appearance before the magistrate judge oracle-bank-jury(?) for a federal criminal offense. My number is 7864670869. Again 7864670869. I advise you to corporate with us and help us to help you. Thanks."- Call type: Debt collector
- Susan replies to AnneI received the same type of message. I have no outstanding debts to the U.S. treasury. I have been told they use something called a "magic jack" or something like that to extort money.
- CubbyBlueJeanGot the same "Steve Martin" from the IRS on Oct.1 - Indian accent - same message as others have stated - someone should start putting these people in jail or deporting them if illegal - ridiculous that we have to put up with this crap - SUPPORT LAW ENFORCEMENT to get the resources they need!
- Call type: Debt collector
- GenaWindyCityAlso got the Steve Martin call----extremely rude individual escalating his voice when I "wouldn't co-operate with scam....finally screaming that his "team" would be at my door in 40minutes to arrest & capture me. I said fine...I have already called the police. "Steve" hung up. .
