Elliott A24 Jul 2007Automated Spanish message. Press one to continue (that's as far as my Spanish goes). I was connected to an operator and I asked to have my number removed from her list. "I don't speak English. Good bye." Unknown company.
Furthermore, my number is a cellphone number. So, I'm extra upset.- I get this all the time, along with the letters F.A.S.T. on the caller ID which it turns out is the Florida Association for State Troopers, which really is a for-profit organization, in existence only to make money by pretending they are affiliated with the State Troopers -- In order to use the Florida State Troopers' name, they only have to donate 10% of whatever they collect to the actual organization. It's a win/win for everyone but the people who donate. The owners of the company get 90% of the donations and the troopers get 10% just for letting them use their name. This is true for almost every telemarketer who uses tne name of any police/fire or other organization. The worst part is if you donate ONE TIME, your name will then be added to a list which is then SOLD to other organizations like this, so you'll start getting calls from anyone looking to make a buck. DON'T DONATE TO THESE PEOPLE!!! If you want to donate, make your contribution directly to the organization you want to support.
DON'T- Excellant post!! These companies sucking money out of unsuspecting individuals should be shut down somehow. It drives me crazy when I see these companie's stickers on the back of cars saying "I support..." finished of with the name of some police/fire organization. Have you niticed that most of these stickers are on the back of cars belonging to the elderly and disadvantages. When was the last time you saw one on the back of a BMW or Lexus. The 10/90 percentage? I believe it's only fair to the company. Police and Fire organizations should realize this is a lousy way to raise money. It makes them a prostitute for their lousy 10%.
- I didn't get the FAST id info, just the 786-486-4635 caller id no. When will things ever get back to normal? I have already learned to only answer numbers I recognize, or screen the calls with the msg recorder. But one line we have has no caller ID (to save a few bucks). Since it is our business listing, we still get suckered into picking up the phone when somebody sounds professional identifying themselves as if they are from a legitimate business. But, then they start phishing, and we politely say that we can not give out personal info. I feel horrible for the innocent who get ripped off by this kind of thing.
- It goes on and on. Now, the caller id whois link locks up. And google directs you to a fee based service called "intellius" and they ask for your credit card info so you can find out incorrect information about the number (786) 486-4635. Lies within lies, like in the X-Files. Ya basta pendejos!

Thanks AGAIN!! - I called the FAST. regardless of their less-than-scrupulous methods for collecting donations, they are not the spanish callers. the woman who spoke with me told me they are identity thieves and there is no way to get ahold of them. She suggested i get on a do not call list but if these people are in mexico or el salvador or where ever... they dont have to follow US laws...

- I received a call on my cell phone today from this number as well ... 786-486-4635 ... I did not answer it because it came up as a number with no title/company name. When I called it back, it said that is was not a working number .... hmmm ...imagine that!
I would not answer any numbers that are unknown or you do not recognize; the list of cellular numbers were released for telemarketing last Monday. September 1st, 2008.
WaterGirl in Florida - This is what you do with that. Go to www.donotcall.gov and register. You have to be on the list for at least 31 days to file a complaint though. It's worked well for me except for the calls from the 786 area code.
