- Brandon| 2 repliesThis number calls about every hour and no one on the other line. Very annoying
- Smitty| 1 replyAnswered the second time they called, probably also an hour apart. Hard to understand the foreign accent, but claimed to be from Madison Healthcare, we happen to live in Madison. Was some spiel about my having taken one of 2 medications and when I said no, he asked if my husband, son or daughter had, think we were cut off but he called back twice and we were never connected. Can't imagine what this one is about, was just going to string him along out of curiosity. Have blocked the number.
- divine replies to SmittyEverything you said just happened to me a few minutes ago. So I googled the number and came across your report. Smdh. Ignorant. These people have nothing good to do.
- AliceJust got a call (Illinois cell phone) and they left an empty voicemail
- Anonymouscid 7865045876 foreign man says I'm owed compensation if someone in my household took a certain anti depressant obviously a scam missed call first and no vm cb buy answers hello... Told him send something in writing and don't callian.m.rung@gmail.com
- Caller: Scam
- troy Gilbert| 2 repliesThis number called me telling me I am able to receive compensation for taking rispordal. I've never taken it.
- Caller: couldn't understand them
- Mike-in-MD replies to troy Gilbert| 1 replyThese people are running a scam fishing for those who have taken certain medications or had certain types of surgeries. If they get a bite, they then claim you are owed a substantial settlement such as $35,000 or $50,000 but to receive it you have to pay a "processing fee" of $99. They want you to pay by Western Union or Green Dot Money Pack card and may even want your bank account information to deposit your compensation.
Red Flag #1: If you are eligible to receive medical compensation of some sort it is the result of a Class Action Lawsuit and you would already know about it and been given information about the suit and how to opt out of the award class if you wished to pursue individual action.
Red Flag #2: You do not have to pay any fees to receive Class Action or any other compensation award.
Red Flag #3: The use of an untraceable payment method for the "fees".
Red Flag #4: Requesting bank account information over the phone to deposit the award unless you are already dealing with a Class Action Award Administrator. - rob replies to Mike-in-MDred flag #5 calling cellular phones(illegal period.dnc list irrelevant)(the few remaining legitimate telemarketers use the fcc list of NON cellular numbers)(any#which costs the user to answer has NEVER been legal to use in telemarketing)
- KGJust called, I said hello 2 times before anyone answered even though I could hear background noise. Asked if this was John Brown's phone. I said no you have the wrong # and he hung up.

This post has two parts. The =second= is for people who are interested in the realities of the Do Not Call list. The =first= is for people who have difficulty understanding long explanations, but think the DNC list does not work.
1)
The DNC list is not a magic switch attached to your phone line, that will block calls.
The DNC list is intended to help stop calls originating from legitimate telemarketers.
* Your calls were not from legitimate telemarketers.
* Therefore, the DNC list will not stop those calls.
2)
The DNC list does not automatically block calls. Instead, it provides a list of "do not call" phone numbers to legitimate, registered telemarketers who pay a fee for the list.
The DNC list exempts political callers, survey organizations, charities, and companies with preexisting business relationships, as well as debt collectors, but these organizations might have their own, internal Do Not Call list (ask them).
The DNC list is not effective against criminals, spammers and scammers, because those people do not subscribe to the DNC list, and do not care if you are on or off that list.
Its purpose is to stop calls from legitimate telemarketers, and it does a pretty good job at that. Just think ... if there were no DNC, you would be receiving incessant calls from BOTH legitimate and scam telemarketing callers!
Here is your reading assignment:

http://www.ftc.gov/news-events/media-resource ... try/enforcement
http://www.ftc.gov/news-events/press-releases ... lemarketers-pay
Remember, the FCC's Do Not Call site is a good one to report unwanted calls from LEGITIMATE telemarketers. To report spammers and scammers, visit the FTC site, at https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/
If you receive calls even after reporting them (and waiting a sufficient time), then you should consider using a call blocker app, device or service as your first line of defense. Google "call blocker" to see such things at Amazon or other sites.
