I don't have any bill collection issues so I know it didn't pertain to that.

I don't understand why people say they received the call, but it was a hangup. The PURPOSE of this web site is to identify the caller. That means you tell us who it is. It doesn't mean you don't tell us that you don't know.

Rec'd call this evening & no message was left.  ID listed the caller as "unknown" so I'm guessing it was a telemarketer trying to sell something.  So much for the do not call list.

These people called back when I dialed them. using V810121227000. I think this is an Indian telemarketer who is trying to harass people. They call me at 8am on Saturday and Sunday. It has the purpose of harassment. I do not own anybody any debt. Evil people.

Hang-ups when you pick up are one of two things: Either they're using multiple autodialers and only talk to the first person who picks up, OR.. they're trolling to verify "live" numbers.

Recommendation:  If it's a number you don't know, pickup quietly and then hang up again. Repeat if they call back. You can always Google the number to see if it's legitimate or not and, if it is, you can call them back. If it's not legitimate block it (either using your phone company's blocking service, an app like PhoneTray or, if available, blocking built into your phone).

My husband occasionally picks up on these calls and every time he does we get a *lot* of them for the next few weeks.

Got a call from this number.  A woman said she was form the Kern Key Automotive Group and calling us about our Honda Odyssey (a car we haven't had for over 2 years.)  When I said we no longer have that car, she quickly hung up.

If you have called ID, DO NOT pick up the phone if 1. You don't recognize the #, 2. If it reads out "unavailable" or 3. If it reads out "out of area."  When you pick up or your answering machine should kick in, you are verifying that yours is a working #, and you will receive more calls.  Use the blocking feature if your phone has that.

I've noticed that I will go a week or more without receiving any of these scam calls, then I will receive several within a couple of days.  Makes me wonder if there is a larger network of scammers originating from the same source, or at least sharing their call lists.  One thing for sure: they stay at least a step ahead of the National DNC Registry, which seems powerless to do anything about these.

Thank you, it is so fustrating when you try and research a number calling and all you read is, "I dont answer strange numbers", or "a hang up", but the "I dont answer strange numbers" really gets me, so if you research the number that is calling, get info helpful to you, please just dont write things must of us do ourselves, this forum is to exchange info not to log in that you have been called.

Another big thing is when people type all in caps "stop calling me" or "I am on the DNC", we all would love if thats how easy it is to stop callers, but READ the mission statement of 800notes, before you start writing as if we are the people calling. These scammers could care less what list you are on, they are breaking multiple serious laws, so not adhering to the DNC is probably a good deed to these criminals. Please forgive typos grammar......
