Horizon - sounds like Verizon

I received a call and it turns out this is an enrollment center. The great thing about it is they get you lower Electric or Gas prices, without you ever having to switch your Utility company (which you can't do anyways). You still receive your Utility bill - only it's LOWER.
The discounts are real - I see them on my bill. This is coming at a good time because BG&E increased their rates 65% this year!
Apparently after some laws were passed to get rid of a monopoly on Electric and Gas, you now have suppliers who can supply you through your utility company. The utility company only makes $ off of the delivery portion of your bill and by law have to charge you exactly what they get the gas or electric at - on the Open Market. This is creating competition and bringing the prices down.
Who remembers when the big Bell telephone company got broken up to get rid of a monopoly? Well, this is very similar.
So, I am a very happy customer. And, by the way, if someone is saying they are posing as the Utility - that's not true - it's just most of you don't know what's happening. - Don't pass up on a beautiful savings just because you don't know - it's on the Public Utility Commissions website!
Caller identified herself as Karen Bryant from US Gas & Electric (not our supplier) and said we were due a rebate on both of our accounts. Very weird, we have more than two accounts, so they obviously were making a sales pitch.
I enrolled and got a good savings. I recommend it.
Check out the Public Utility Commission website - they are listed on the approved Supplier list - do a search under 'Customer Choice Program".
Most of you guys don't know about State regulations that passed to get rid of a monopoly on gas and electric supply.
The Utility company only delivers to you - they don't supply. You are being called by a Supplier regarding the Customer Choice program where they are offering you better rates than what you have been being charged by your Utlity company. You still get one bill -- from the Utlity company.
This has been going on in New York for the past 9 years. In other states, it's not really known about - but you won't get your savings if you don't enroll. Or wose yet - brush off the call and think it's a scam - because IT's NOT!!!!!
