Just left telephone number (800-220-3350) on voice mail.  Contacted them and requested what company this was and the young lady said that they represented many companies and needed the telephone number where the message was left.  I gave her the number and she said she was calling in regarde to my HSBC crendit card.  When I requested more information the line went dead.

A man called and identified his first name. He then proceeded to harass and speak very rudely to me. He asked for someone who lives in the same household as myself. I told him that it wasn't my affair so he should call back. He then got very rude.

If they are representing themselves as a law firm - I would have a tape recorder rolling, that is beyond ILLEGAL. They are a collection agency, and it is against the Fair Debt Collection Act for them to represent themselves as anything else but. $1000 fine per infraction. I was dealing with Nationwide Credit who were doing something similar, and oddly enough they've stopped. They hope you are just scared and not up on the laws. I am not without fault, but I won't let these people walk all over me. They will use "pre-litigation" as a term - remember - ANYTHING is pre-litigation. They use it as a guise to make you believe that is the next step. In most cases it is not, as it isn't worth it to the companies to take legal action. They've written the debt off, sold the account amount for pennies on the dollar to a collection agency who will use many ploys to get you to pay. Of course it is in your best interests credit-wise to do so, but don't believe everything they tell you. They are in the business to get as much from you as they can. I even got the wage garnishment threat. They need to read the laws in my state - the only debts that are subject to wage garnishments are alimony/child support and taxes. Knowledge is power.

Call them and tell them that they are NEVER to call you at your place of business, and provide another number. Also, you can eliminate the calls completely if you send them a letter stating that they are no longer permitted to contact you via telephone. All future correspondence must be via mail. They MUST comply.

These companies prey on ignorance - the more you know, the more in control of the situation you are, despite your fault in the matter.

The company is actually an "arm" no pun intended, of HSBC, and will at times identify themselves as such. I discovered this after 3 calls back, as my questions and reverse interrogation prompted a few hang ups. Class acts they are. Good luck, they are no fun to deal with, indeed. That said, arm yourself with information, the Fair Debt Collection Act and what it means as far as your rights - you'd be surprised.

Sure, they cramp these "professionals" in a large room, with a computer screen and a telephone. There are probably 75 in one room, hence the yelling and voices you heard. I did it for a while, it is almost comical. Some are nice, some are rude. I actually couldn't do it - I lacked the ability to be an a$$hole to people. Not everyone is a deatbeat. Some get in over their heads. And treating folks like trash won't get that check written and sent out any faster. Hang in there. I am dealing with ARM now. Someone left a message "I expect a retuen call by 10am today.." Never mind the call was made by them to me at 10:26.

Ah, scare tactics. They prey on that, and the ignorance of the folks they call. As I said above, make sure you are aware of the laws and what your rights are - they vary by state. The more you know, the more you will put them on edge and you will start to gain leverage.

As long as you send them something - and I mean that - even $5 per week - there is NOTHING and I mean NOTHING they can do to you. Do you think they want to wait years for their money? Nah. The minimal payment will prompt them to offer you a deal. Realize, they purchase these accounts for pennies on the dollar. Anything they make is gravy. Don't let them make you think they are acting on behalf of the original creditor. Early on, yes - but after a while, the original debt is written off and sold to an outside agent, most of which will tell you ANYTHING to recoup what they spent for the account.

I just got a call from this number.  They are trying to collect on a house loan that my son paid off and sold the house 15 years ago.  Totally a bogus scam.  You can't sell a house with a lien on it.  These people are scumbags.  What they are doing is called extortion by intimidation. Report them to your state's attorney general!

I have been receiving calls from Mr. Eric Lucas from this number at extension x6430. When politely told that the party he is looking for is unavailable, he has resorted to threats and hysterics, as well as a promise to "keep calling" until he reaches the individual he is looking for.  Despite my civil conduct, I've been forced to hang up on this man due to his incredibly rude and unprofessional behavior, which resulted in a barrage of attempts to call back immediately.  This type of conduct is prohibited by the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, and I have lodged a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission.

This company "ARM" attched on over $2500 worth of "collection fees" to what I already owe to the original creditor. I originally got a notice in the mail notifiying me that "ARM" was in charge of my account now, and it said that I had until the end of the month to work something out before the fees were added. I received the letter the second week of June which only left a little more than two weeks. I called them and explained my financial situation. Within a couple of days I received another letter telling me that the "fees" had already been added to the account and it was dated June 14th. So, the original letter and the information from their employee were both false, just bold face lies. Even after explaing to the guy that the company I worked for went out of business, he suggested that I ask my Mom for help, although I had just told him that not two weeks before my Mother had 2 strokes. This people are aweful and rude and disgustiong to deal with.  They call almost everyday and leave a message with no name, just saying that it is urgent to call them back.

I am sure they hear it all the time when people say they have the wrong number, but they really do!  I just got this new # recently and the voice mails the company leaves are for someone who I also receive wrong number calls for...of course they don't believe me and keep calling incessantly and at all hours!  I have since requested a new phone number.

has called me at least three times today, there asking for some one by the name of jerry klines, I have no idea who that is, but they insist I put this Jerry on the phone, I threatened them with harrassment, and they quit calling, for today anyway.
so, jerry Klines please call 800-220-3350, so they'll quit calling my phone.
But then again, I don't care if Jerry calls them or not, let them find him.
    Have a good day Jerry.

I've had the same thing happen to me. I've told them three times that they have the wrong number, but they keep calling, asking for Vicki Linbourne (I'm not sure of the spelling of the last name, since it's hard to understand the automated recording). When they finally put me through to a live person, I tell them they have a wrong number. They say they'll make a record of it, but they never do. They just keep calling. Vicki Linbourne, if you're out there, please call them back at 800-220-3350 and get them to stop calling me! It's strange, I've had this same phone number for at least 5 years, and they just started calling a couple months ago, at all hours of the day or night. I'm thinking of getting my number changed as well. I've had it!
